General Manager People & Culture

  • Lead the next phase of capability, modernisation and workforce uplift.
  • Influence outcomes for 4,000 employees across a purpose-driven & growing organisation.
  • Kenmore corporate head office, hybrid working & 5 weeks annual leave

Churches of Christ is building a more capable, connected and future-focused organisation. Our General Manager People & Culture will shape how we attract, develop, support and retain our people while leading the next phase of workforce capability, technology and organisational uplift.

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this senior leadership role leads Human Resources, Employee & Industrial Relations, Health, Safety & Wellbeing, Talent Acquisition, Workforce Capability, Learning & Development, Culture and Workforce Compliance.

This is not a role focused on creating strategy from scratch.

The P&C team have invested time into a roadmap for the future. The opportunity is to build capability, lead through influence and collaboration, and ensure key initiatives are successfully delivered, embedded and sustained across the organisation.

The Opportunity

Our GM P&C sits at the intersection of people, performance, capability, and organisational improvement.

You will be supported by and work closely with the Executive team and Board, helping to shape the future of the People & Culture function while delivering outcomes that strengthen workforce capability, improve safety, leverage technology and enhance the employee experience.

Key priorities include strengthening workforce compliance and governance, improving safety outcomes, delivering Enterprise Agreement negotiations, implementing a new HRIS, uplifting workforce capability and continuing the evolution of People & Culture as a trusted business partner.

You will leverage emerging technologies, automation and data-driven insights to improve how the organisation supports its people and leaders.

Success will be measured not only by implementation outcomes, but also through the ability to embed and sustain change, build capability and realise benefits across the organisation.

About You

As an experienced People & Culture leader you will balance strategic thinking with practical delivery.

You enjoy understanding how organisations operate, asking meaningful questions, solving business problems and helping others succeed. You know how to move between Executive discussions and operational realities, bringing people on the journey while maintaining momentum, accountability and an outcomes mindset.

You will ideally have a broad experience across HR, ER/IR, Talent, Workforce Capability and WHS, and the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of an organisation.

You will be known as a leader who enables the business, develops your team, and builds credibility through delivery.
