Why join SUBCO

The internet's backbone isn't in the cloud. It's on the ocean floor, and we put it there.

When a video call connects Sydney to Singapore in under 100 milliseconds, or a cloud file reaches the other side of the world in the blink of an eye, that’s undersea cable infrastructure at work. SUBCO designs, builds and operates high-capacity submarine cable systems linking Australia to Asia, the United States, and beyond.

In September 2026, we announced the APX programme; three hypercable systems spanning over 40,000 kilometres. The single largest subsea build ever undertaken by a carrier in the Indo-Pacific.

With $3 billion in infrastructure projects underway, SUBCO is not a startup finding its feet. We're not a slow-moving incumbent watching from the sidelines. We're an Australian, founder-led company scaling fast, doing work that shapes how entire regions connect to the global digital economy. And right now, we're building the team to make it happen!

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Group Financial Accountant to shape intercompany accounting and group consolidation as SUBCO scales internationally. You'll ensure accurate financial reporting across multiple entities and multiple jurisdictions, prepare consolidated financial statements, and ensure compliance with statutory and audit requirements.

This is technically rigorous work where your expertise directly enables accurate financial reporting for a growing infrastructure business. As SUBCO grows this role will grow with the business giving you an opportunity to develop frameworks and processes rather than inheriting them. You'll work as part of an experienced Finance Team, tackle complex consolidation challenges, and build financial infrastructure that supports our expansion across the Indo-Pacific region.

What you’ll do

  • Own and maintain the intercompany accounting framework
  • Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and balance eliminations to ensure accuracy across all entities
  • Prepare group consolidated financial statements across key reporting jurisdictions
  • Develop and maintain consolidation models and elimination entries to translate intercompany activity into group reporting
  • Coordinate with external auditors, prepare audit schedules, and support the external audit process
  • Prepare statutory compliance reporting and financial analysis for management and stakeholders
  • Maintain Wiise ERP system data integrity and configurations to support accurate intercompany and consolidation processes

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or Commerce
  • CPA or CA qualification
  • Strong reporting and compliance background with expertise in statutory financial statement preparation
  • Experience in a group or consolidated reporting environment across multiple entities
  • Strong understanding of intercompany accounting, elimination entries, and consolidation principles
  • Experience preparing financial statements and supporting external audits
  • Big 4 or mid-tier audit firm experience (preferred)
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems
  • Meticulous attention to detail and analytical capability; able to identify discrepancies and resolve complex consolidation matter
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines
  • Excellent communicator who builds effective relationships across finance and business teams
  • Telecommunications, infrastructure, or multi-entity group experience (strongly preferred)

Why you’ll love working at SUBCO

  • Work alongside industry thought leaders, and contribute to infrastructure projects critical to Australia’s future
  • Hybrid work model (3 days in office, 2 from home)
  • Birthday day off, need we say more?
  • Flex Leave – 5 additional days for life admin, health check-ups, family events, volunteering, study and/or personal development
  • Paid parental leave benefits
  • Company paid coffee and snacks to fuel your best work
  • Tenure rewards at key milestones; we celebrate the long game!
