Who We Are

AvantStay delivers world class, authentic, tech-enabled short-term rental (“STR”) group experiences targeted at the millennial generation. We are venture funded and growing rapidly in the explosive $100+ billion dollar STR industry. We deliver a customized end-to-end experience that is tailored just for groups and powered with technology at every layer.

What We're Looking For

Every week, thousands of people talk about AvantStay online. Guests posting from a rooftop in Nashville, a group planning a reunion in the Smokies, a homeowner asking a forum who to trust with their house. Right now that conversation happens around us. We want it to happen with us. We're looking for a Head of Social Community to make AvantStay the brand people feel they belong to, not just one they booked.

This is a build role. You'll own how we show up and engage everywhere our guests and owners gather online, and you'll create the communities that don't exist yet. You decide where we belong, what we sound like, and how we turn a great stay into a lasting relationship. You'll be the person who steps in when something goes wrong in public and makes it right, with the standing to get it fixed. You'll know what people are saying about us before anyone tags us, and you'll turn that into decisions the rest of the company acts on. We're hiring an owner, not an operator of someone else's plan.

What this title means here: you are the first hire in this function. No team yet, no agency in between. You get a tools and test budget from day one, and you report to our VP of Growth.

What You’ll Do

  • The voice. How AvantStay sounds in every reply, DM and thread, and the standards that keep it consistent as we scale.

  • The communities. The spaces we build and the ones we earn our place in, across the platforms where travelers and homeowners already talk. You decide where, in what order, and how they stay alive after launch.

  • The listening. A clear read on what people say about us across every channel, and a regular, honest brief to marketing, operations and revenue on what it means.

  • The moments that matter. Public complaints, viral threads, the guest who deserves a thank-you. You set the playbook and you're the first voice people hear.

  • Reputation. The engine that turns great stays into reviews and happy guests into advocates.

  • The experiments. New ways to earn engagement, with a budget to test them and the mandate to keep what works.

  • The playbook. Tone, templates, moderation standards, escalation paths, and the reporting that proves community is growing the business.

What You'll Bring

  • You've built an online community from zero and kept it alive, on platforms like Facebook Groups or Reddit, and you can show the growth.

  • You understand how different communities police themselves. You know how to show up as a brand on Reddit without getting downvoted into oblivion.

  • You've run social listening for a brand and turned it into reports people acted on.

  • You've handled public complaints and escalations with calm, speed and judgment.

  • You've moved review volume or ratings for a business, and you know why the ask and the timing matter.

  • Writing that is warm, specific and fast, with the range to switch between a brand voice and a person-to-person voice.

  • Comfort with data. You read engagement metrics, build a simple report and explain what changed and why.

  • You use AI tools every day to draft, sort and triage at volume.

  • 3+ years in community or social for a consumer brand, ideally travel, hospitality or real estate. We care more about what you've built than how long you've been doing it.

  • Nice to have:

    • You've run an ambassador or UGC program.

    • Reddit or Facebook group ads experience.

    • Quick Canva or CapCut skills.

  • This role is not:

    • A content-posting or scheduling job. We have a content team; you own the conversation.

    • An events or ambassador-program role with no hands-on engagement.

    • A 9-to-5 in your own time zone. Guests post on weekends; you'll set coverage that works.

Logistics

  • This role is only open to global candidates outside the United States

  • Must be able to work US business hours (Pacific, Central, or Eastern time)

  • Must have excellent written and spoken English (near-native)

  • Fully remote

  • Generous paid time off, including local holiday

  • A build-from-zero mandate with a tools and test budget from day one.

  • You report to our VP of Growth.

  • A performance incentive bonus for the right candidate, tied to what you build.

  • A learning stipend and the listening and community stack you choose.
