Hybrid, 2 days in the office · Permanent, full-time
€65,000 base, with room to go higher for the right candidate, plus up to 27% bonus
THE ROLE
One of Ireland's largest motor finance providers, part of a global automotive group, is launching a new direct-to-consumer insurance line. This is the first hire to lead it.
You will own the insurance product from the start. You will assess the underwriting options (panel, single provider or intermediary), build the business case, take the proposition to market quickly with minimal risk, and own its P&L once live. You report into senior product leadership, with no direct reports at launch.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Define and execute the insurance product strategy in line with commercial and growth objectives
- Assess underwriting models and recommend the right route to market
- Lead the product lifecycle from idea to launch, managing internal stakeholders, insurers and vendors
- Own product performance and P&L profitability
- Build business cases and lead them through to management approval
- Research customer needs, market trends and emerging risks
- Ensure every product meets regulatory requirements, including the Insurance Distribution Regulations
- Work across operations, sales, marketing, pricing, IT and change at every level of seniority
- Produce product documentation, FAQs and sales resources for colleagues, dealers and customers
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Product management experience in direct-to-consumer insurance: home, motor or general
- A track record of launching new consumer products into a regulated market
- Direct ownership of a product P&L
- Business cases taken through to approval, and confidence presenting to senior executives
- Knowledge of insurance intermediary operations and the Insurance Distribution Regulations (IDR)
- PCF-17 approval, or the experience and capability to obtain it
- The ability to meet Central Bank of Ireland Fitness and Probity requirements. This is a Minimum Competency Code (MCC) role, and you must be willing to complete required qualifications and maintain CPD
DESIRABLE
- CIP qualification
- Background in consumer finance, automotive finance or banking
- Experience working with underwriting partners, panels or intermediaries
- Not required: motor finance experience, or Agile or PRINCE2 certification. A track record of launching consumer products matters more
Please note: this role is not suited to digital product owners whose launches were apps or features without a consumer product and P&L behind them, or to commercial lines or reinsurance-only backgrounds.
THE PACKAGE
- €65,000 base, with room to go higher for the right candidate
- 0% to 27% company bonus
- Pension from day one, rising to up to 9% employer contribution after probation
- VHI Company Plan Extra Level 2 from day one, for you and your immediate dependants
- 26 days' annual leave plus 2 company days, with extra service days every 3 years
- Life assurance at 4× salary and income protection
- Employee Car Ownership Scheme and staff vehicle purchase scheme
