EU Project Management Internship in Vienna (pro bono) – next cohort starts 1 November 2026
🏛️ About EMOTiC
EMOTiC is a youth NGO in Vienna's 1st district, with branches in France and Croatia. We run Erasmus+ and other EU-funded programmes: training courses, youth exchanges, workshops and simulations that help young people grow, take part in society and work together across Europe.
💼 About the internship
Are you studying, or between your studies and your first job? This internship gives you real practical experience in how European projects are planned, run and delivered. It follows a learning-by-doing approach: together with your mentor, we design a learning plan around your availability, your learning goals and what is happening in our projects at the time.
🧭 Roles and responsibilities
During your internship, you take on different roles:
• Project management assistant – help plan tasks and timelines, coordinate with partners and participants, prepare meetings and keep track of our European projects
• Funding and proposals – research calls and partners, and help prepare applications to Erasmus+, CERV and other EU programmes
• Workshop facilitator – host and run workshops for school students
• Participant and on-site support – join our training courses, youth exchanges and workshops as a participant, while helping the team with logistics
• Research assistant – work on research tasks together with our partners, such as ACCELERAS KG
• MUN Chair and MEP lead – help organise and chair our weekly Model United Nations and Model European Parliament simulations
• Outreach and social media – reach out to young people, promote our events and keep our social media active
• Initiative lead – develop and run an initiative of your own, with your mentor's support
Your responsibilities:
• Give at least 20 hours a week, or 80 a month, on a schedule agreed with your mentor
• Follow the learning goals you agree with your mentor and report on your progress
• Join our team meetings and share updates on your tasks
• Be reliable, meet deadlines and communicate openly with the team
• Represent EMOTiC respectfully towards participants, partners and the public
📜 Certificates for your Lebenslauf
For every workshop and mobility programme you join, you receive a separate participation certificate. At the end, you receive your internship certificate, which reflects everything you worked on, plus a confirmation for your university.
You also become part of the ACCELERAS Practitioners Academy, the community of professionals who take part in ACCELERAS's EU projects and its piloting events in Vienna: https://acceleras.io/practitioners-academy.html
In November and December alone, you can join:
• Digital Empowerment through Critical Online Dialogue and Engagement – youth exchange, 2–10 November
• Mediation and Advocacy Competences and Tactics for Sustainable Futures – training course, 10–17 November
• Truth for Youth – 1–5 December
• Youth4GreenPolicy – 5–9 December
🎯 What you gain
• A mentor and regular feedback on your learning goals
• Training as a MUN Chair and in leading MEP simulations
• Study visits to the UN, the OSCE and other organisations
• Priority in the selection for our Erasmus+ mobilities
• Support with your Lebenslauf, and a recommendation letter for your future applications
• Contacts with partner organisations across Europe
• Perks for the most engaged interns, and the chance to join our team when new projects need additional staff and you bring the expertise they require
👥 Who is this opportunity for
• Students, recent graduates and young professionals at the start of their career, living in Austria and at least 18 years old
• You speak English at B1 level or above
• You are motivated, reliable and curious about youth work and European cooperation
• You enjoy meeting people and bringing them together
• You use digital tools with confidence
📍 Time and place
• Flexible scheduling around your studies, with office and remote work agreed with you; in special cases, your hours can be combined into a shorter period
• Our office: Rauhensteingasse 7/18, 1010 Vienna, a few minutes' walk from Stephansplatz
• Next cohort: 1 November 2026; we review applications on an ongoing basis throughout the year
🤝 Why we offer this internship
Our internship programme is one of our offers to give emerging youth and young professionals practical learning experience. It comes from our commitment to Gemeinnützigkeit: working in the public interest and supporting young people as they take their next steps.
Our internships are pro bono: they are unpaid and not reimbursed, and they do not replace any staff work or staff roles. We carry the costs of the office, mentoring and the programmes you join, so you can learn, grow and gain experience.
📩 How to apply
Apply here on LinkedIn with your Lebenslauf. We then invite you to a short call to agree on your tasks, learning goals and schedule. Before the call, we ask you for a short video about yourself and your interests.
