About the role

The Risk Consumer Intern supports consumer risk and portfolio management activities by assisting with data analysis, reporting, and portfolio performance monitoring. This role helps identify trends, evaluate credit risk metrics, and develop data-driven insights that support business decisions while gaining exposure to credit risk strategy and portfolio analytics within a leading auto finance organization. The intern collaborates with business partners on reporting initiatives, contributes to multiple projects, and develops professional communication, analytical, and presentation skills through interactions with leadership and cross-functional teams.

In this role you will:

• Support data analysis, validation, and reporting activities to help ensure information is accurate, reliable, and actionable for business decision-making.
• Assist with portfolio performance reporting, including analysis of trends, results, key business drivers, portfolio analytics, and credit risk concepts.
• Learn how to identify business questions, translate them into data-driven analysis, and develop insights that support business decisions.
• Assist with creating, updating, and improving reports used by internal business partners and management.
• Collaborate with team members and internal business partners to understand reporting needs, summarize findings, and communicate analysis in a clear and concise format.
• Contribute to multiple projects throughout the summer internship program while developing skills in prioritization, time management, and working independently with team guidance.
• Build cross-functional relationships across the organization to gain broader business insight and identify opportunities for professional growth.
• Gain exposure to credit risk strategy, portfolio analytics, and business decision-making within an auto finance organization.
• Develop written, verbal, and presentation skills through opportunities to share insights and communicate project outcomes.
• Prepare and deliver an end-of-internship presentation to senior leaders summarizing projects, analyses, and accomplishments from the internship

What makes You an ideal candidate?

• Strong written and verbal communication skills required. This incumbent will be required to give presentations and communicate with business leaders.

• Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, and conceptual skills required.

• Must be detail oriented and able to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

• Must be able to work independently or in a team setting.

• Previous internships are considered a plus

Candidates should demonstrate:

• Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work
• Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
• Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights
• Familiarity with AI-assisted research, summarization, and content generation
• Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection

Additional Knowledge and Skills

Working effectively within an AI enabled environment:

• Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work
• Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
• Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights
• Familiarity with AI-assisted research, summarization, and content generation
• Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection

Work Experience & Education

• Must be a current student pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business, Business Analytics, Management Information Systems, or related with at least one semester remaining upon start of the internship.

• Must possess a minimum of a 3.0 (out of a 4-point scale) overall GPA.
