The Role

We are seeking an experienced IP Licensing Manager(知识产权许可经理) to manage the commercialization and licensing of intellectual property assets.

The role will develop IP licensing strategies, evaluate licensing opportunities, identify and manage licensees, structure and negotiate licensing agreements, monitor royalties and contractual obligations, support IP valuation, and build strategic relationships that maximize the commercial value of the organization's IP portfolio.

The successful candidate will combine IP commercialization, licensing strategy, contract negotiation, portfolio management, financial analysis, business development, royalty administration, and stakeholder management.

Key ResponsibilitiesIP Licensing Strategy
  • Develop and execute IP licensing strategies aligned with corporate and commercial objectives.
  • Identify IP assets with licensing and commercialization potential.
  • Establish licensing priorities based on market demand, competitive position, legal strength, strategic value, and revenue potential.
  • Develop annual and multi-year licensing plans.
  • Evaluate outbound, inbound, exclusive, non-exclusive, cross-licensing, field-of-use, territorial, and sublicensing opportunities.
  • Establish licensing KPIs and revenue targets.
  • Continuously optimize licensing strategy based on market and portfolio performance.
IP Portfolio Management
  • Maintain a commercial view of the organization's IP portfolio.
  • Assess patents, trademarks, copyrights, software, designs, trade secrets, know-how, and other relevant IP assets.
  • Evaluate ownership, protection status, geographic coverage, remaining term, commercial relevance, and licensing potential.
  • Identify underutilized or non-core IP assets.
  • Recommend licensing, protection, expansion, consolidation, or retirement strategies.
  • Coordinate with IP Counsel and external advisors.
IP Commercialization
  • Identify opportunities to convert IP assets into commercial value.
  • Evaluate licensing, assignment, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, product development, technology transfer, and other commercialization routes.
  • Develop commercialization plans and business cases.
  • Assess market readiness and commercial applicability.
  • Coordinate with R&D, Product, Technology, and Business Development.
  • Track commercialization outcomes.
Licensee Identification
  • Identify potential licensees across relevant industries and markets.
  • Research companies based on products, technology capabilities, customer base, geographic presence, market position, and strategic fit.
  • Build and maintain a qualified licensee pipeline.
  • Conduct licensee qualification and discovery.
  • Assess financial strength, commercialization capabilities, technical capabilities, and strategic alignment.
  • Prioritize high-value prospects.
Licensee Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain relationships with licensee executives, business-development teams, legal teams, technical teams, and commercial stakeholders.
  • Understand licensee strategies, market plans, product roadmaps, and commercialization capabilities.
  • Establish regular communication and review cadences.
  • Develop long-term mutual-value relationships.
  • Identify opportunities for license expansion and additional collaboration.
Licensing Pipeline
  • Build and manage the IP licensing pipeline.
  • Track opportunities by IP asset, licensee, industry, geography, stage, value, probability, and expected timing.
  • Maintain accurate CRM and licensing records.
  • Forecast licensing revenue.
  • Identify stalled opportunities and develop corrective actions.
  • Report pipeline performance to senior leadership.
IP Valuation
  • Support valuation of IP assets and licensing opportunities.
  • Analyze market potential, comparable transactions, expected revenues, competitive position, IP strength, technology maturity, and strategic value.
  • Develop financial models.
  • Estimate upfront fees, royalties, milestones, and other commercial returns.
  • Conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis.
  • Provide recommendations for pricing and deal structures.
Licensing Economics
  • Develop and evaluate licensing financial models.
  • Assess royalty rates, minimum guarantees, upfront payments, milestones, revenue sharing, and other economic structures.
  • Evaluate licensee economics and expected ROI.
  • Balance near-term revenue with long-term portfolio value.
  • Partner with Finance and Tax teams.
Licensing Models
  • Recommend appropriate structures, including:
  • Exclusive licensing
  • Non-exclusive licensing
  • Sole licensing
  • Field-of-use licensing
  • Geographic licensing
  • Product-specific licensing
  • Patent-pool participation
  • Cross-licensing
  • Sublicensing
  • Assignment

  • Ensure structures are commercially attractive and strategically appropriate.
License Negotiation
  • Lead or support negotiations with prospective licensees and strategic partners.
  • Develop negotiation strategies, objectives, commercial positions, and fallback options.
  • Negotiate financial and non-financial terms.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Finance, Tax, IP Counsel, Technical, Product, and Executive stakeholders.
  • Evaluate trade-offs involving exclusivity, scope, territory, royalties, milestones, performance obligations, and sublicensing.
  • Drive negotiations toward sustainable outcomes.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate should have experience in IP Licensing, Intellectual Property Commercialization, Technology Transfer, Patent Licensing, Trademark Licensing, Strategic Partnerships, IP Management, Business Development, or related disciplines.

The candidate should demonstrate:

  • Proven experience managing IP licensing or commercialization activities.
  • Strong understanding of intellectual-property rights and licensing structures.
  • Experience negotiating IP or technology license agreements.
  • Strong commercial and business-development capabilities.
  • Experience managing licensees and strategic IP partners.
  • Strong understanding of patents, trademarks, copyrights, software, trade secrets, know-how, and related IP.
  • Experience with royalty structures, licensing economics, and commercial modeling.
  • Strong financial-analysis and valuation capabilities.
  • Experience with license agreement administration and compliance.
  • Ability to work effectively with Legal, IP Counsel, Finance, R&D, Technology, Product, and Executive teams.
  • Experience with inbound, outbound, exclusive, non-exclusive, field-of-use, geographic, cross-licensing, and sublicensing structures.
  • Experience with IP portfolio optimization is highly advantageous.
  • Experience with technology transfer or university/research commercialization is advantageous.
  • Experience in software, SaaS, AI, data, engineering, manufacturing, energy, life sciences, consumer products, or other IP-intensive industries is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with IP-management, contract-management, CRM, and financial systems is advantageous.
  • Experience with patent analytics, IP valuation, licensing databases, or market-intelligence platforms is advantageous.
  • Experience with AI, software, digital-content, data, or emerging-technology licensing is highly advantageous.
  • Experience managing international licensing arrangements is highly advantageous.
  • UAE, GCC, Middle East, or multinational IP-commercialization experience is advantageous.
  • Relevant degree in Intellectual Property, Law, Business, Engineering, Technology, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field is highly advantageous.
  • Professional qualifications in Intellectual Property, Licensing, Technology Transfer, Contract Management, or Business Development are advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills; Arabic is advantageous for UAE/GCC environments.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, analytical, financial, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple IP assets, licensees, negotiations, agreements, and commercialization initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote and internationally distributed environment.
  • Strong commercially minded, IP-focused, analytical, strategic, negotiation-oriented, detail-oriented, relationship-driven, and results-focused mindset.
