Junior Developer
HIREXEJunior Developer / AI Implementation Assistant
Remote Work & Time Zone
This role is fully remote and will be based in South Africa, working for a U.S.-based company. Candidates must be able to work U.S. Eastern Time (ET/EST) hours.
This is a hands-on support role for a careful junior developer who wants exposure to real client systems and practical AI implementation. You will work closely with the founder, receive scoped direction, and help move small features from issue to implementation to testing notes.
Atten-X is looking for a careful, fast-learning Junior Developer to maintain client-facing web systems, build AI-powered demos, support voice-agent products, and help ship reliable features from issue to implementation to testing.
Atten-X helps small and mid-sized businesses ship practical AI systems: live demos, internal tools, client workflow systems, and AI-assisted products that turn into real implementation engagements.
Stack:
PHP/MySQL, Node.js, React/Vite, HTML/CSS/JS
Focus:
Client systems, voice agents, QA, docs, live demos
Key Responsibilities
Client Systems & Web Development
- Maintain and extend PHP/MySQL applications across marketing, lead capture, affidavit/workflow, and client-review systems
- Ship HTML/CSS/vanilla JS updates, Bootstrap/jQuery UI fixes, form improvements, modal flows, filters, and admin screens
- Support MySQL work: prepared queries, migrations, fixture data, cleanup scripts, and sanity checks across local MAMP and hosted environments
AI Product & Demo Development
- Help build and polish Atten-X "Envy Demos": live AI tools that prospects can use at atten-x.com
- Assist with Node.js / Express services for voice-agent flows, API routes, MySQL persistence, provider integrations, and internal ops tooling
- Support React/Vite/TypeScript dashboard work for voice-agent monitoring, QA views, admin screens, and demo interfaces
Quality Assurance & Documentation
- Run and maintain QA workflows: Playwright E2E tests, Node test suites, smoke scripts, live-call QA checklists, and manual regression notes
- Keep docs current: setup notes, QA results, client handoff docs, build logs, and implementation summaries
What We're Looking For
Required
- 1–3 years of web development experience, or strong project work that shows you can learn fast and ship carefully
- Comfortable with PHP and MySQL, including PDO, prepared statements, sessions, forms, and server-rendered app patterns
- Solid front-end fundamentals: HTML, CSS, vanilla JavaScript, forms, modals, and responsive layouts
- Node.js experience, HTTP/API handling, environment variables, and package scripts
- React experience, ideally with Vite, routing, component state, and dashboard/admin UI patterns
- Able to read existing code, follow established patterns, and ask good questions before changing shared systems
- Careful with security basics: input validation, sessions/cookies, CORS, secrets, webhook validation, and rate/cost limits
- Clear async communication and willingness to document what changed, how it was tested, and what still needs attention
- Willing and able to work U.S. Eastern Time (EST/ET) hours
Nice to Have
- Experience with agent orchestration and Twilio Voice agents
- Familiarity with Playwright, OpenAI / Anthropic, Replicate, Deepgram, or ElevenLabs
- Exposure to n8n, Slack webhooks, or AWS basics
Essential Skills
- Practical, hands-on coding ability across a full-stack (PHP/MySQL + Node/React) environment
- Strong attention to detail and a careful, methodical approach to shared codebases
- Comfort testing and documenting work clearly for handoff
- Curiosity about applied AI systems: voice agents, live demos, and client-facing tools
- Reliable async communication in a small, fast-moving team
