Junior Estimator

This is a remote position.

Our client is looking for a Junior Estimator to support construction and restoration projects by preparing estimates, reviewing project scopes, and monitoring material costs. Their company operates in the residential construction, remodeling, and property restoration industry and has expanded its capabilities in recent years while supporting homeowners with renovation and storm recovery projects.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with numbers, construction information, and project documentation. The Junior Estimator will help develop accurate project budgets using estimating software, analyze visual project information, research material pricing, and support supplier relationships that contribute to profitable and well-planned projects.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Xactimate or similar estimating software, understands the fundamentals of construction estimating and cost tracking, and can work independently in a fully remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for construction, remodeling, and property restoration projects using estimating software.
  
• Review project scopes and available documentation to identify materials, work requirements, and estimated costs.
  
• Analyze photos and videos from project walkthroughs to develop accurate line-item budgets.
  
• Use Xactimate or comparable estimating tools to organize project costs and estimate required work.
  
• Research and compare current material pricing to support accurate estimates and healthy project margins.
  
• Track material costs and identify pricing differences that could affect project profitability.
  
• Support supplier and vendor relationships by gathering relevant pricing and material information.
  
• Maintain organized estimating documentation and cost information for active projects.
  
• Assist with updating estimates when project scopes, material prices, or requirements change.
  
• Apply strong attention to detail when reviewing project information and preparing cost calculations.
  
• Collaborate remotely with project stakeholders while independently managing assigned estimating responsibilities.
  
• Support the estimating team with additional project costing and scope review activities as needed.
  

Requirements

• Previous experience with construction estimating or a closely related function.
  
• Hands-on experience using Xactimate or another construction estimating platform.
  
• Understanding of construction costs, materials, project scopes, and basic cost tracking.
  
• Ability to review photos, videos, and project information and translate them into detailed estimates.
  
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  
• Ability to research and compare material pricing.
  
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  
• Reliable high-speed internet connection.
  
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  

Qualifications

• Experience preparing estimates for construction, remodeling, or restoration projects.
  
• Experience with insurance-related estimates is highly desirable.
  
• Familiarity with supplier or vendor coordination is valuable.
  
• Knowledge of material pricing and its impact on project margins is preferred.
  
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
