Junior Legal Counsel (Maritime)

We are looking for a “Junior Legal Counsel (Maritime)” to be assigned to our ''Legal'' department located in İstanbul Kağıthane HQ .

WHAT DO WE EXPECT?

• Bachelor degree from a leading law school with bar admission (LLM degree is an asset).
• 1 to 3 years’ experience in shipping sector as a legal counsel in international law offices or shipping companies.
• Experience in and knowledge about maritime law and international commercial contracts. Working on a variety of commercial / business legal matters, including previous experience of drafting, negotiating and closing maritime related contracts.
• Proficiency in written and spoken of English.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to be able to build effective relationships with business executives and third parties as well as within the Legal Department.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment and collaborating with business units to develop deal structures and mitigate associated risks.
• Excellent organizational, presentation and process skills, with the ability to follow through on numerous projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
• Diplomacy skills, along with persuasive and influential capabilities.
• Strong ability to research and follow up, attention to detail, analysis and reporting skills.
• Dynamic, self motivated, analytical and teamwork oriented.
• No restriction for travelling inside and outside of Turkey.
• No military obligation for male candidates.

WHAT AWAITS YOU?

• Prepare, review and execute contracts (including but not limited to ship sale and purchase transactions, charterparties, ship finance, ship building contracts etc.).
• Partner with Business Development & Sales, Project, and Ship Operations teams through contractual processes.
• Provide legal support for all aspects of the company's business, including general corporate matters, project development, finance and ship operations.
• Conduct due diligence in transactions.
• Resolve legal problems that will occur during transactions.
• Conduct company formation processes and daily corporate and ship operations.
• Provide practical commercially-minded legal consulting to the various operational functions on all sort of legal issues.
• Conduct legal research and draft reports, opinions, correspondence and other documents.
• Follow up the new legislations, regulations related to company’s major activities and report to the management.
