About the role

As our Laboratory Quality Manager Specialist, you'll share responsibility for maintaining, developing and improving quality systems, workflows and operational standards within the Materials Laboratory. You'll work alongside another Laboratory Quality Manager Specialist, laboratory technicians and method owners, keeping processes robust, compliant and ready for future business needs. You'll combine quality stewardship with practical improvement, using laboratory data and close collaboration to strengthen equipment management, methods, and workflows.

Please note: This position is based in Billund, Denmark. Our flexible working model allows employees to work 3 days/week in-office and 2 days/week from home. However, some teams have higher demand for in-office. There is no relocation for this role.

Required Qualifications

  • Maintained and improved laboratory quality systems, procedures, standards, and documentation.
  • Ensured laboratory equipment function and reliability through a structured qualification, maintenance and calibration programme.
  • Solved nonconformities and operational problems using data and systematic approaches to identify root causes and sustainable solutions.
  • Analysed laboratory performance data using statistical methods to support investigations, validations, and improvements.
  • Created alignment among laboratory technicians, method owners and technical specialists around laboratory standards and ways of working.
  • Embedded quality or workflow improvements into everyday laboratory practice by working across functions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Applied material and/or ink testing methods such as infrared spectroscopy, colour measurement, differential scanning calorimetry, rheology, or microscopy.
  • Collaborated with equipment suppliers, service and calibration providers and during equipment lifetime.
  • Improved laboratory workflows or equipment processes through structured problem solving.
  • Used digital tools, automation, and laboratory data to improve laboratory workflows, monitor performance, and support data-led decision-making.

What you'll build

  • Improve processes for laboratory equipment management and develop a system to monitor performance of methods and equipment to identify improvements needs in collaboration with method owners and super users.
  • Take ownership of selected laboratory quality processes and improvement initiatives.
  • Strengthen workflows, documentation, equipment management, and process monitoring.
  • Balance quality, compliance, service levels and efficiency across varied testing activities.
  • Help prepare our laboratory for the future by spotting opportunities for improved use of data, digitalization or automation.

If you've worked in a role where you maintained and matured a laboratory quality system by making lasting improvements, you'll feel at home here. What matters most is balancing operational needs with quality requirements and turning improvements into everyday laboratory practice.

Life on the team

You'll join the Materials Test & Analysis team within Materials, Engineering & Quality in Operations. We test and analyze materials used for LEGO® elements, including polymers, masterbatches, decoration inks, and additive manufacturing powders. We work closely in our Billund laboratory, with a hybrid rhythm where the work allows. Curiosity, learning agility and a continuous improvement mindset will help you grow your knowledge and strengthen how we work.

What success looks like

You'll become a trusted partner who can independently own agreed areas of the laboratory quality system, including equipment management while improving performance and consistency in the laboratory. As the team strengthens processes, digitalization, performance monitoring and data-led decision-making, you'll play your part by working closely with technicians, method owners, material specialists, equipment suppliers, and calibration colleagues.
