Are you ready to step into the role of Lead Embedded Systems Integration Engineer and architect the integration backbone for cutting-edge autonomous UAVs and tactical robotics platforms? Do you thrive at the intersection of rugged firmware, deterministic communication buses, and zero-margin-for-error flight standards? How would you like full architectural ownership across multiple aircraft programs while mentoring a fast-growing, passionate engineering team?
The Lead Embedded Systems Integration Engineer position is full time and permanent, based in Thessaloniki. Hybrid work model is also offered.
In compliance with pay transparency and equal treatment obligations (Greek Law 5316/2026 & EU Directive 2023/970), the applicable salary range for this position will be communicated to candidates invited for an assessment interview, prior to its conduction.
Responsibilities
As Lead Embedded Systems Integration Engineer, you will drive system-level integration and ensure mission-critical reliability across all platform deployments:
- Architect and standardize the integration framework across three flagship autonomous UAV platforms, bridging the gap from lab bench testing to live flight operations.
- Lead, coordinate, and mentor junior engineers and technicians across assembly, firmware flashing, and hardware-software validation workflows.
- Configure, flash, and troubleshoot vehicle subsystems, including flight controllers, ESCs, companion computers, telemetry radios, and specialized mission payloads.
- Validate and debug core communication buses and interfaces, ensuring deterministic data flow across CAN / DroneCAN / CANopen, UART, I2C, SPI, and Ethernet.
- Direct comprehensive pre-flight checkouts, including multi-sensor calibrations (IMUs, magnetometers, GPS, air data sensors), motor tests, and failsafe configurations.
- Design, build, and automate Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test setups, regression suites, and standardized commissioning scripts.
- Diagnose complex integration blockers using Linux (Ubuntu) CLI utilities, kernel logs, and vehicle telemetry to isolate software defects or wiring anomalies.
Qualifications
To excel as Lead Embedded Systems Integration Engineer, you bring deep technical intuition and hands-on integration expertise across autonomous hardware and software:
- 5 years of hands-on experience in embedded systems integration, robotics, automotive ECU commissioning, or uncrewed platforms (open to both high-potential senior engineers ready to lead and established integration leads).
- Strong command of Linux (Ubuntu) environments, including advanced terminal navigation, shell/bash scripting, and kernel log diagnostics.
- Practical mastery of communication protocols and serial buses, specifically CAN / DroneCAN / CANopen, UART, I2C, and SPI.
- Proven leadership capability or clear aptitude for structuring test procedures, leading technical workflows, and mentoring team members.
- Extensive experience with diagnostic lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and digital multimeters, alongside hands-on wiring troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of autonomous flight ecosystems (PX4, ArduPilot, QGroundControl) or robotics middleware (ROS / ROS 2).
- Experience with Python for building automated test rigs and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) frameworks (preferred).
- Exposure to embedded CI/CD pipelines, Git release workflows, or safety-critical standards such as ISO 26262 or DO-178C/254 (a strong plus).
- Degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering, Automation, Robotics, or a related discipline.
Experience
Hands-on experience in embedded systems integration, robotics, automotive ECU commissioning, or uncrewed platforms
Benefits
