The Products Data Lead is the trusted-data and insight engine of the product organization and serves as the owner of product master data “lighthouse” attributes and of the calculation methodology behind the metrics that underpin our product strategy.

The role has a sequenced mandate:

1. Establish a single, governed source of product master data including a master hierarchy, attributes, contract data, as core inputs while fixing the methodology behind core product metrics (product profitability & profitability drivers, end-market penetration, product cross referencing, pricing);

2. Translate that foundation into a redefined set of Product KPIs aligned to new ELT strategy and value proposition work that redirect product leadership toward where value actually is, rather than reporting the activity metrics of the past.

3. Creation of a “fact pack” that supports product strategy. The analyses that compose the fact pack should connect to the true north KPIs identified through step 2

This position will work upstream the ops-data analytics team, reporting to the VP of Operation Transformation, and partnering closely with the Product GMs to ensure all product data initiatives are measurable and traceable to North Star EBITDA and drive a change from backward-looking reporting to forward-looking transparency and accountability. The scope of this role is expected to expand to the product master data lighthouse as the foundation matures and has a path to leading the full data team if candidate performs well.

  • Trusted product master (the product lighthouse): a hierarchy and attributes for the Global Products (First Party), OEM, and third-party. This would enable product cross-referencing, correct costing and profitability, and rapid sourcing events (among other activities)
  • A connection through a common UID to financial Hierarchy and cost allocation systems (e.g., SAP), enabling all business functions to create analyses and run their operations; note that the hierarchy itself should be consistent – it’s okay that different functions utilize different attributes to run their domains
  • Fixed, codified metric methodology that serves as one trusted source of truth: a documented, defensible calculation methodology for product profitability, product penetration / market opportunities, cross-reference library
  • Initiative tracking linked to EBITDA: a live tracking model where every transformation initiative is linked to its EBITDA impact (calculation owned by Finance) and rolls up to the North Star

Owns:

  • Product master data methodology and governance: hierarchy logic, attributes – and how that interfaces with finance, operations, commercial, and sourcing
  • Calculation, methodology, and source of truth for derived product metrics (share-of-wallet, penetration, potential/addressable value)
  • Design of Product KPIs including what is measured, how it is defined, and how it drives focus and accountability
  • Initiative tracking model: tracking commercial transformation initiatives and linking each to its EBITDA impact

Recommends:

  • Analyses and methodologies to systematically identify growth, margin-up, and portfolio optimization opportunities
  • Opportunities to utilize AI to streamline data tracing and enable quicker insights, inclusive of predictive analytics
  • Product data governance, especially for sunsetting SKUs and launching new products

Informs:

  • Product Margin Up strategy, in support of Project Rocketman
  • Product Master Data Management, in support of Project Astra
  • Cross-functional and Finance leadership on data-quality gaps, unowned stewardship, and methodology changes that affect reported numbers

Internal:

  • Product Quarterly Reviews and Monthly Reviews — hands trusted metrics, segmentation inputs, and methodology into governance reviews, with a defined methodology and so action is executed
  • undefined
  • Finance: this role links tracked initiatives to their financial impact and aligns the North Star bridge
  • IT / Master Data Management: the enterprise lighthouse initiative, MDM platform, and identifier crosswalks
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (statistics, data science, economics, engineering, or similar) or equivalent experience
  • 5-10+ years in commercial/sales analytics, data science, or master data management — distribution, healthcare, or med-surg strongly preferred
  • Working command of master data management, with a clear grasp of the difference between master, reference, and derived data (share-of-wallet and penetration are computed methodologies, not tables)
  • Demonstrated ability to define a calculation methodology and defend it to both Finance and commercial leaders
  • Strong SQL and analytics tooling; fluency with the modern data stack; PowerBI for last-mile reporting
  • The judgment to design KPIs that change behavior rather than simply report it — technical depth paired with commercial acumen
  • Ability to lead and influence upstream of an analyst team without direct authority, across commercial, ops-data, IT, and Finance
  • Understanding of healthcare procurement, GPO/IDN dynamics, and med-surg distribution economics preferred; familiarity with third-party healthcare market data (e.g., Definitive Healthcare) a plus
  • Reports to SVP, Supply Chain Planning
  • Works upstream of, but does not manage, the ops-data analytics team with solid-line ownership of methodology and commercial demand; dotted-line influence over their build
  • Individual contributor / expert at launch, with the opportunity to build and lead a commercial-analytics team as scope expands from the customer lighthouse to product
  • Remote is possible with ~25% travel to Richmond

If you feel this opportunity could be the next step in your career, we encourage you to apply. This position will accept applications on an ongoing basis.
