2. Job Summary

The successful candidate will deliver undergraduate teaching in media arts, animation, digital design, visual storytelling and related creative disciplines. The lecturer should combine strong theoretical knowledge with practical, project-based instruction in digital media production, animation techniques, visual communication and industry-standard creative tools.

The ideal candidate will support students in developing technical proficiency, artistic creativity, critical thinking and professional portfolio development while promoting ethical media practices, copyright compliance and responsible use of digital technologies.

3. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, practical workshops, demonstrations and project-based learning activities in assigned media arts and animation subjects.
  • Teach relevant areas such as 2D and 3D animation, digital illustration, character design, storyboarding, visual storytelling, motion graphics, multimedia production, digital painting and visual effects.
  • Deliver instruction in graphic design, typography, colour theory, composition, drawing fundamentals, digital photography and visual communication where relevant to the programme.
  • Introduce students to animation principles, character development, scene composition, modelling, texturing, lighting, rigging, rendering and animation production workflows.
  • Teach relevant software and tools, such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Blender, Autodesk Maya or other industry-standard applications, depending on course requirements and available resources.
  • Develop teaching materials, practical exercises, assignments, production briefs and creative projects aligned with programme learning outcomes.
  • Guide students through the complete creative production process, from concept development and research to storyboarding, design, animation, editing and final presentation.
  • Design and assess examinations, practical assignments, animation projects, portfolios, presentations and collaborative productions, providing constructive feedback.
  • Supervise student projects, short films, animated sequences, multimedia productions, capstone projects and internships where assigned.
  • Encourage experimentation, original thinking, visual problem-solving and the development of professional creative portfolios.
  • Teach responsible use of digital assets, intellectual property, copyright, licensing, attribution and ethical content production.
  • Introduce relevant developments in digital media, interactive storytelling, emerging animation technologies and artificial intelligence tools where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, assessment and academic records and submit reports within required timelines.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, academic quality assurance, research, exhibitions, creative showcases and relevant industry engagement.
  • Support collaboration with professionals in animation, film, advertising, digital content creation, gaming and other related creative industries.

4. Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have:

  • A minimum Master's degree in Media Arts, Animation, Digital Media, Multimedia Design, Graphic Design, Film Production, Visual Communication, Computer Animation or a closely related discipline from a recognised university.
  • A relevant Bachelor's degree in media arts, animation, graphic design, digital media, fine arts, film production or a related field.
  • Relevant university or college teaching experience is strongly preferred.
  • Professional experience in animation production, digital design, film, multimedia, visual effects, motion graphics or other relevant creative industries is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in relevant creative software and digital production workflows.
  • A strong creative portfolio demonstrating relevant artistic, design, animation or multimedia production skills.
  • Experience supervising student projects, creative productions, research or portfolio development is desirable.
  • Knowledge of copyright, intellectual property, digital ethics and responsible media production is desirable.
