Our client, a US immigration law firm, is seeking a legal professional with hands-on experience in US employment-based immigration to join its team remotely.

Role Title: Legal Associate – US Employment Immigration

Hours: Full-time (EST Hours)

Location: Remote

Rate: R32,000 per month

This opportunity is well suited to a South African-qualified attorney looking to build on their existing US immigration experience within an international legal practice. Candidates who are not admitted attorneys but have substantial relevant experience in US employment-based immigration will also be considered. Experience with H-1B visas and EB-5 immigrant investor matters would be particularly advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing immigration forms, supporting letters and petition documentation.
  • Collecting, organising and reviewing supporting evidence from clients, employers and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct legal and procedural research relating to US employment-based immigration matters.
  • Assist with responses to Requests for Evidence (RFEs) and other case-related correspondence.
  • Track deadlines, maintain accurate case files and follow up on outstanding documentation and information.
  • Communicate professionally with clients to obtain necessary information and provide updates where appropriate.
  • Keep supervising attorneys informed of case progress, outstanding requirements and relevant developments.
  • Manage multiple immigration matters while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality and timely completion of assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Prior US employment-based immigration experience is essential. General legal experience alone will not meet this requirement.
  • Hands-on experience with H-1B and/or EB-5 matters is preferred.
  • Excellent written English and strong drafting and research skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
  • Confident client communication and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • The ability to work independently while following attorney guidance and established procedures.
