Show job description

Do you combine legal rigor with strong commercial judgment? Would you like to take ownership of commercial contracts and help keep Trackunit’s commercial momentum moving across EMEA and APJ?

As our Legal Counsel – Commercial Contracts, you will own the negotiation and drafting of Trackunit’s commercial contracts, particularly our Master Telematics Agreements (MTAs). You will work closely with our Commercial teams to move negotiations forward, reduce risk exposure, and support customer relationships where fast turnaround matters.

Alongside commercial contracting, you will contribute to broader legal, governance, and regulatory work. By taking full ownership of the commercial contracting process and playbook, you will help reduce deal cycles and free the General Counsel to focus on higher-level strategic matters.

Based in Denmark, you will join our Legal and Compliance department and report to the VP – General Counsel. This is an individual contributor role at IC3 level, with no people management responsibilities.

What’s in it for you?

You will have direct operational and tactical impact on commercial deal velocity, primarily across EMEA and APJ, while contributing to legal risk management across Trackunit’s contracting activity.

The role combines ownership of commercial negotiations with a broader range of legal work. Roughly half of your time will focus on commercial contract negotiation, ranging from routine to moderately complex matters using an established playbook. The remainder will cover general legal work across governance, regulatory, and compliance-adjacent matters, which can range from routine to more complex and ambiguous.

You will build a working understanding of Trackunit’s business, products, and customers, using that knowledge to provide advice that is commercially aware as well as legally sound.

Your responsibilities

  • Own the negotiation and drafting of commercial contracts, particularly Master Telematics Agreements (MTAs), ensuring fast turnaround without unnecessary escalation.

  • Act as a trusted legal partner to Commercial teams across EMEA and APJ, resolving standard redlines independently using the established contract playbook.

  • Identify and mitigate risk exposure in contract terms, escalating to the General Counsel when terms fall outside standard playbook parameters and, where material, to the CFO/CEO.

  • Support general legal, governance, and regulatory work, including data protection (GDPR) and other EU legislation, alongside commercial contracting.

  • Build and maintain an understanding of Trackunit’s business, products, and customers to balance legal precision with commercial needs.

  • Take full ownership of the commercial contracting process and playbook, contributing to reducing the General Counsel’s workload.

Your focus this year

Your immediate priority will be to address the EMEA and APJ negotiation bottleneck by building fluency and speed in MTA negotiations. You will help establish a clear, well-used contract playbook so that more redlines can be resolved without General Counsel involvement.

A secondary focus will be deepening your GDPR, data privacy, and EU regulatory knowledge to support both commercial contracts and general legal and governance work.

Who are you?

  • You bring 5+ years of experience in contract negotiation, ideally gained in-house or in a role with strong commercial exposure.

  • You have working knowledge of GDPR and EU data- and software-related legislation.

  • You have strong commercial instincts and can balance legal precision with deal pragmatism.

  • Industry knowledge in software or construction technology is a plus, but is not a requirement.

  • You use sound judgment to distinguish between redlines that fall within the established playbook and those that require escalation.

You will have delegated authority to approve and close redlines within the established contract playbook. Anything outside standard terms requires escalation to the General Counsel and, depending on materiality, potentially to the CFO/CEO. Understanding and applying that boundary is a core part of the role.

Who will you work with?

You will work most closely with our Commercial teams, including Sales and regional Pod Leaders. You will also collaborate regularly with Cyber Security, Quality, Supply Chain, and other internal legal and compliance colleagues.

Externally, you will negotiate directly with customer legal and procurement counterparts. Your communication will involve informing, advising, and negotiating, with negotiation being a defining part of your work.

The role has EU-wide scope, with a specific commercial negotiation focus on customer relationships across EMEA and APJ.

The only question is: Are you in?
