At Carrum Health, we have built a unique marketplace for specialty care with unparalleled patient experience

Since 2014, we have been rewiring a fundamentally broken healthcare system. By connecting large employers directly with the nation's top-tier providers, our platform replaces a flawed fee-for-service model with one that actually works. If you are passionate about solving complex economic problems, driving systemic change in our healthcare system, and thriving in a people-first culture, we want you on our team. As a high-growth health tech company, we are seeking high-performing, exceptional talent to scale our platform and ensure that anyone in the country facing a specialty procedure has access to the life-changing Carrum benefit.

Our marketplace creates massive value for all stakeholders:

  • For Employers (Demand): Predictable, transparent pricing that slashes specialty care costs by up to 45% and eliminates waste

  • For Providers (Supply): Ability to gain market share while reducing administrative burden, empowering top-tier doctors to focus completely on delivering optimal care.

  • For Members (Users): A life-changing benefit with dedicated concierges, VIP access to the nation's best specialists, and little-to-no out-of-pocket costs.

We are looking for a Manager, Business Development to lead and grow our team of outbound Business Development Specialists (BDS). This role is critical to turning eligible patients into engaged program participants. Reporting to the Director, Patient Access, you will coach a team of consultative, resilient outreach professionals, build the strategies that drive patient lead conversion, and hold the team accountable to both results and a patient-first experience. You will set the tone for performance, culture, and operational excellence across the team.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will...

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Business Development Specialists/ BDS team that educates, qualifies, and converts prospective participants into engaged members.

  • Own conversion and engagement targets for outbound outreach, and build the cadences, call strategies, and follow-up workflows to exceed them.

  • Coach consultative selling skills through call listening, live feedback, role-play, and modeling a "rock-solid" Carrum program pitch.

  • Build a culture of curiosity around objections by ensuring reasons for non-participation are captured accurately and turned into messaging and outreach improvements.

  • Establish, monitor, and evaluate performance metrics, including dial activity, contact rate, conversion rate, enrollment volume, follow-up discipline, documentation quality, and patient satisfaction, using dashboards to guide coaching and decisions.

  • Leverage data to frame up outreach campaign progress, outcomes and to create visibility into this operation that other leaders can easily access.

  • Supervise day-to-day operations of the BDS team, including scheduling, lead distribution, metrics reporting, and coverage planning during periods of high volume.

  • Serve as the escalation point for sensitive or complex patient situations, and as a subject matter expert on the BDS workflow. You will take live calls only on occasion, such as during training, to model the pitch, or when an escalation requires it.

  • Partner with leadership, Sales, Marketing, and Client Success to align outreach with employer populations, program launches, and eligibility changes, and to share feedback from the field.

  • Support the design and continuous improvement of workflows, scripts, CRM processes, and tools that improve both patient experience and team performance.

  • Onboard and train new team members quickly, ensuring consistency in pitch, compliance, and documentation.

  • Implement and uphold standards for outbound calling compliance, documentation accuracy, and HIPAA.

  • Foster a positive, mission-driven, high-accountability culture rooted in empathy and continuous learning.

  • Serve as a role model for Carrum Health's values, leading with integrity, empathy, and a focus on patient-first outcomes.

We’re excited about you because…

  • You have 5+ years of experience in sales development, inside sales, patient enrollment, or customer-facing outreach roles, ideally in healthcare or digital health.

  • You bring 3–5 years of people management experience leading outbound or sales development teams to consistently meet or exceed targets.

  • You have a proven track record of coaching consultative selling, objection handling, and cold-call skills to measurable improvement.

  • You have strong experience with CRM platforms, auto-dialers and or telephony systems, and sales analytics tools.

  • You are highly data-driven, skilled at using funnel metrics to diagnose performance, guide coaching and create easy to access dashboards to frame up data for organizational reporting.

  • You can balance conversion goals with empathy, and you know that patient trust is what makes results sustainable.

  • You are passionate about developing people and creating a supportive, high-accountability environment where teams can thrive.

  • You demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization.

  • You handle confidential information appropriately and adhere to HIPAA requirements.

  • You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, balancing multiple priorities with calm focus and strong organization.

  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset: you take initiative, solve problems creatively, and drive meaningful change.

  • Experience with self-funded employer benefit plans, bundled payment models, or healthcare enrollment campaigns is a plus.

  • Spanish-speaking ability is a plus.

Why you’ll love working with us...

  • We’re a hard-working, humble, and compassionate group motivated to solve the hard problems in healthcare today. You’ll work with talented, experienced co-workers from companies like Booz & Company, Teladoc, Hinge Health, Accolade, Angi, and Optum.

  • We champion a collaborative environment where team members can be autonomous, receive support and healthy feedback, and bring their authentic selves to work.

  • We carve out time to celebrate our successes and have fun. We’re a remote-first company with employees all over the United States. We offer holistic employee support with flexible working hours, generous time off, paid parental leave, opportunities to connect virtually and in-person, and more.

  • We embrace our team’s diversity of thought, experience, and interests and know that doing so makes us stronger as a company. Carrum has an active employee-led Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) committee alongside several employee resource groups (ERGs) that support parents, women, and various underrepresented groups.

  • You’ll feel proud that the work you do each day directly impacts people’s lives in big and meaningful ways.

  • Carrum is remote-first, but we believe the best work often happens in person. This role may include occasional travel for team offsites, client events, or company gatherings.

Other benefits:

  • Stock option plan and performance bonus for eligible employees

  • Flexible schedules and remote work

  • Chicago and San Francisco offices available as an option

  • Flexible PTO, within reason

  • Summer Fridays (sign off @ 1pm local time)

  • 15+ paid holidays, including Juneteenth, World Mental Health Day, and Carrum Health Day

  • Annual holiday shutdown in December

  • Paid parental leave

  • Health, vision, and dental insurance

  • Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)

  • 401K retirement plan
