JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Manager is the marketing and communications partner for the departments that fund Girl Scouting, deliver its programs, and lead the council: Fund Development, Programs, Camps, and Executive/Governance. The role owns the full lifecycle for that portfolio including strategy, writing, design, social, and results, so each department (client) has one accountable Marcom lead. The Manager is the council's LinkedIn lead and contributes portfolio content to Facebook and Instagram.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Portfolio strategy and client partnership (~20%)

  • Build an annual marketing and communications plan for each client department, tied to the council's strategic priorities of attracting and retaining members.
  • Meet regularly with department leads to review/set/align priorities, scope requests, and plan seasonal campaigns; escalate competing demands to the VP.
  • Maintain a unified campaign-approach calendar for the portfolio, in collaboration with the other Marcom team members.

Campaign development and content creation (~40%)

  • Plan, write, and design recruitment and retention campaigns for girls, families, and volunteers across email, social, web, print, and community channels.
  • Lead communications for the Girl Scout Cookie Program and Fall Product season to troops, families, and the public, in step with the Product Programs team.
  • Create and maintain volunteer recruitment and communications toolkit.
  • Promote Retail products and seasonal merchandise with colleagues.
  • Produce design work in-house within Girl Scouts of the USA brand standards; brief and manage freelance designers or agencies for high-production pieces (guides, video, large print runs).

Social media lead — Facebook and Instagram (~20%)

  • Own the council's Facebook and Instagram strategy, content calendar, and community management.
  • Incorporate content from the other Manager's portfolio so the council speaks with one voice on these channels.
  • Monitor comments and messages, and route member questions to Customer Care in a timely manner.

Measurement and optimization (~10%)

  • Set goals for each campaign and report results to the VP and client departments.
  • Use results to adjust messaging, timing, and channel mix.

Media, partners, and brand stewardship (~10%)

  • Brief the retained media relations specialist on Cookie, Membership, and related press opportunities within scope.
  • Give day-to-day direction and feedback to the Marcom Generalist on portfolio work.
  • Uphold GSUSA brand, voice, and photo-release standards across all portfolio materials.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to manage several internal clients and deadlines at once, and to say no or "not yet" with care.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience marketing a membership, volunteer, or youth-serving organization.
  • Experience with seasonal or product-sales campaigns.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Girl Scout experience as a member, alumna, or volunteer.
