Role Description The Mental Health First Responders Training role is a full-time remote position responsible for designing, delivering, and refining training programs that prepare individuals to respond effectively to mental health crises. Day-to-day tasks include developing training materials, modules, and scenarios that integrate emergency response principles with mental health crisis intervention best practices. The role involves facilitating virtual training sessions, workshops, and simulations for diverse audiences, including youth, caregivers, community volunteers, and professionals. The trainer will collaborate with mental health specialists and emergency services professionals to ensure content is accurate, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and aligned with WMHI’s mission. Additional responsibilities include evaluating participant performance, collecting feedback to improve curricula, maintaining training records, and staying current with global standards in emergency medical services and mental health first aid.
Qualifications

• Strong foundation in emergency response, with skills in Emergency Services and Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
• Relevant professional credentials such as Paramedic certification and recognition by the U.S. National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) or equivalent.
• Background in Medicine or a related health discipline, with knowledge of crisis assessment, stabilization, and referral pathways.
• Experience in mental health first aid, crisis intervention, or psychological first aid, particularly in community or educational settings.
• Ability to design and deliver remote training programs, including familiarity with online learning platforms and virtual facilitation techniques.
• Clear, empathetic communication skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills, with attention to detail in training records, evaluation, and reporting.
• Commitment to non-discriminatory, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive practices in mental health and emergency response.
