JOB DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS

About the Role

• This is a hands-on individual contributor role focused on designing and building a reusable native Android SDK using Kotlin, allowing our existing nutrition and AI features to be integrated into third-party mobile applications.
• You'll be responsible for SDK architecture, API integration, reusable UI components, authentication and integration into an existing production Android application.
• You'll work closely with our backend team and other mobile developers, while taking ownership of delivery end-to-end.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop a reusable native Android SDK using Kotlin
• Build modular, maintainable components that can be embedded into third-party Android applications
• Integrate existing REST APIs for nutrition, meal planning and AI-powered features
• Implement secure authentication, token management and user synchronisation
• Develop reusable native UI components and feature flows
• Design SDK interfaces for straightforward integration into host applications
• Package, version and distribute SDKs using Gradle and Android libraries (AAR)
• Integrate and validate the SDK within an existing production Android application
• Handle networking, error states, performance and edge cases
• Write integration documentation and support testing through to production release

What We're Looking For

• Strong commercial experience developing native Android applications using Kotlin
• Proven experience building reusable Android SDKs, libraries or modular frameworks
• Strong understanding of Gradle, Android libraries (AAR) and SDK distribution
• Experience integrating REST APIs and managing authentication flows
• Experience building reusable UI components using Jetpack Compose and/or Android Views
• Solid understanding of Android architecture, modularisation and dependency management
• Experience with Kotlin Coroutines, Flow and asynchronous programming
• Experience with token-based authentication, session management and secure storage
• Strong debugging, performance optimisation and testing skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical delivery
• Experience working with existing production applications and codebases

• Experience building SDKs for third-party commercial integrations
• Experience embedding SDKs into applications maintained by other development teams
• Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, JWT and secure token exchange
• Experience with CameraX, image capture or image processing APIs
• Experience integrating AI-powered or chat-based functionality
• Familiarity with CI/CD and automated SDK publishing
• Backend experience with Node.js, Express or similar technologies
• Exposure to health, fitness or consumer mobile applications
• Startup or early-stage product experience
