Network Engineer – Cisco, IT/OT & Cloud Networking

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join a team responsible for the deployment, security, maintenance and operation of a complex enterprise IT and OT network infrastructure. Working in a predominantly Cisco-based environment, you will manage technologies across routing, switching, wireless, firewalls, data centre connectivity and cloud networking.

You will contribute to infrastructure projects involving new data centre connections, cloud integration, WAN modernisation, network automation and requirements from application teams. The role involves collaboration with ICT colleagues across Belgium and other European locations, as well as occasional travel to Belgian sites. You will work in a 24/7 operational environment, participate in a standby rotation of up to one week in four, and initially work on-site before transitioning to a hybrid arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, maintain and operate enterprise network infrastructure.
• Manage routing and switching across complex network environments.
• Support LAN, WAN, wireless, firewall and cloud networking technologies.
• Configure and maintain network technologies across IT and OT environments.
• Prepare and execute network changes in line with operational requirements.
• Contribute to data centre connectivity and cloud integration projects.
• Support WAN modernisation and network requirements from application teams.
• Collaborate with ICT colleagues across Belgium and other European locations.
• Contribute to network automation using Python and/or Ansible.
• Support network monitoring, central logging and Network Access Control (NAC) solutions.
• Work with network authentication technologies, including TACACS and RADIUS.
• Participate in the on-call/standby rotation, with a maximum of one week in four.
• Travel occasionally to other Belgian sites when required.

Required Skills

Mandatory Skills

• Strong knowledge of enterprise routing and switching.
• Experience with OSPF, IS-IS, MP-BGP and MST.
• Understanding of firewall technologies.
• Experience with cloud technologies and networking.
• Experience with Cisco Wireless.
• Experience with Python and/or Ansible for network automation.
• Knowledge of network monitoring, NAC and central logging solutions.
• Knowledge of TACACS and RADIUS.
• Fluent English.
• Good command of Dutch or French.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Cisco ACI and/or Cisco SD-WAN.
• Experience with Cisco ASR, ISR, Catalyst and Nexus.
• Familiarity with Check Point and Palo Alto firewalls.
• Exposure to Zabbix, Elastic, Cisco ISE and Microsoft Azure.

Experience & Education

• An educational background in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in enterprise network engineering, supported by the technical expertise outlined above.

Languages

• English: Fluent.
• Dutch or French: Good command required; at least one is mandatory.

Location & Work Model

• Location: Belgium.
• Initial working model: On-site during the first three months.
• Operations: 24/7 environment, with standby rotation of up to one week in four.
• Travel: Occasional travel to Belgian sites.
