Position Overview

The Onboarding Field Trainer sets new Design Consultants up for success during the critical onboarding period. This role delivers primarily virtual training that builds new hires' product knowledge, systems proficiency, and command of company processes, so they enter the field prepared and confident. The Trainer also analyzes cohort performance and uses those metrics to proactively shape each new hire's success.

When not in class, the Trainer supports their local field team in market — reinforcing what new hires learned, observing them in real appointments, and helping consultants turn training into results. Incumbents should expect regular in-field presence as part of the role, not an exception.

Primary Responsibilities

Virtual Onboarding Delivery

  • Deliver virtual onboarding training to new Design Consultants on product knowledge, systems, and company processes.
  • Follow and deliver structured curriculum as designed, adhering to scheduled programming while maintaining learner engagement.
  • Facilitate engaging, interactive virtual sessions that build skill through practice, not just presentation.
  • Support new-hire certification and skill assessments during onboarding.
  • Participate in periodic observation of training delivery by the Onboarding Field Training Manager, applying facilitation feedback to continuously improve and maintain a standard of excellence.

Cohort Performance & Analytics

  • Analyze KPIs for each onboarding cohort and use those metrics to proactively shape new-hire success.
  • Partner with District Sales Managers and Field Sales Trainers at the local level to act on cohort insights and target support where it is needed most.

New-Hire Readiness

  • Track each new hire's progress through onboarding and identify knowledge or skill gaps early.
  • Share new-hire strengths and development needs with District Sales Managers and Field Sales Trainers at the transition from training to the field.
  • Provide follow-up support to new hires as they begin running appointments.

Local Field Support

  • Support the local field team when not in class: in-home ride-alongs, appointment observations, and hands-on coaching.
  • Attend district team meetings and sales events to reinforce training.
  • Be a visible, trusted resource for consultants across the local market.

Administrative & Coordination

  • Maintain training schedules, learner rosters, and completion records.
  • Coordinate logistics for virtual and in-person sessions (platforms, materials, samples).

Work Schedule & Field Requirements

  • 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday.
  • Flexible start times based on home market; core collaboration hours are 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM Pacific Time.
  • This position is a hybrid role that combines virtual/remote work with required, recurring in-field presence. In-field time is a core, non-negotiable responsibility of this role.
  • In-Field Time: Up to 40% of working time in the field. This role is virtual-first during onboarding classes; field time is concentrated between classes, supporting the local field team through ride-alongs, appointment observations, and district meetings. Field time will vary by week based on business needs, training cycles, new-hire ramp, product launches, and promotional activity — and may exceed the target during peak periods.
  • Mileage reimbursement provided for driving beyond 60 miles round trip.
  • Reliable personal transportation, a valid driver's license, and willingness to travel independently within assigned markets are required conditions of employment.

Qualifications

Required

  • Training, sales, or coaching experience — ideally in a retail, direct-to-consumer, or in-home sales environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation skills, especially in virtual environments.
  • Ability to follow and deliver structured curriculum and adhere to scheduled programming while maintaining learner engagement.
  • Baseline understanding of and capability with technology, including Outlook, Teams, AI tools, and virtual learning platforms, with an established personal technology suite used to stay productive.
  • Analytics comprehension: ability to analyze cohort KPIs, ramp, and performance metrics and act on them.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel within assigned markets.

Preferred

  • Strongly preferred: prior facilitation experience with demonstrated sales achievement tied to it.
  • Prior experience as a Design Consultant, sales trainer, or field coach.
  • Experience delivering virtual instructor-led training or new-hire onboarding.
  • Experience operating in a hybrid field-based role.

What's in it for you?

  • Competitive base salary and a performance-based bonus structure aligned to training delivery, consultant ramp, and departmental outcomes.
  • A meaningful seat at the intersection of education and sales — your work directly drives the success of Design Consultants in the field.
  • State-of-the-art tools, including laptop, smartphone, product samples, and virtual learning technology.
  • Mileage reimbursement for in-field travel beyond 60 miles round trip, in accordance with company policy.
  • Competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan with a degree of employer matching.
  • Short- and long-term disability benefits at no cost to you, plus company-paid life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance, with opportunities to elect additional voluntary insurance plans.
  • Six weeks of paid parental leave for eligible employees to bond with a child following birth, adoption, or foster placement.

Please note, all offers presented to candidates are carefully crafted to ensure market competitiveness, equity, and reflect the individual candidate’s education, experience, skills and potential.
