Role Description The Operations Analyst is a part-time, remote role responsible for supporting the operational efficiency of Device’s editorial and publishing workflows. In this role, the analyst tracks and analyzes key performance metrics, identifies process bottlenecks, and recommends data-driven improvements to submission, review, and publication pipelines. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating with editorial, marketing, and sales teams, preparing operational reports, maintaining documentation, and assisting with project timelines and resource allocation. The Operations Analyst also helps optimize tools and systems used by the journal, supports implementation of new processes, and contributes to a consistent, high-quality experience for authors, reviewers, and readers.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and generate actionable insights.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with editorial, operations, and commercial teams in a remote setting.
- Experience in operations management, including workflow optimization, process mapping, and documentation.
- Project management abilities to support planning, scheduling, and coordination of cross-functional initiatives.
- Understanding of sales or business operations, including familiarity with performance metrics and pipeline tracking.
- Comfort working with spreadsheets, dashboards, and other analytical or project management tools.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a distributed team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, operations, data science, physical sciences) or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in academic publishing, scientific journals, or research environments is a plus.
- Interest in physical sciences and technology-driven research is beneficial.
