Role Description This part-time remote role combines software development with business process automation to support Petposh Vets Ltd’s agri-business and animal care operations. The specialist will design, develop, and maintain web-based and desktop applications that streamline workflows such as appointment management, client communication, and data tracking. Daily tasks include gathering requirements from stakeholders, building and integrating automation tools (e.g., scripts, APIs, dashboards), and optimizing existing systems for reliability and performance. The role also involves troubleshooting technical issues, documenting solutions, and proposing improvements to enhance efficiency and data accuracy. Collaboration with veterinary and operations staff is expected to ensure technology solutions are practical, secure, and aligned with business goals.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong software development skills (e.g., one or more modern programming languages, frameworks for web or desktop applications).
• Candidates should possess experience in business process automation (e.g., workflow automation tools, scripting, API integration, data processing).
• Candidates should possess proficiency in database and data management (e.g., SQL or NoSQL databases, data modeling, reporting and analytics).
• Candidates should possess familiarity with cloud-based and remote collaboration tools (e.g., version control systems, project management platforms, communication tools).
• Candidates should possess solid problem-solving and debugging abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on reliability and security.
• Candidates should possess effective communication skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and work independently in a remote setting.
• Relevant experience in agri-business, animal care, or healthcare technology is beneficial, as is prior work in small business or startup environments.
• A degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory when supported by strong practical experience.
