Levels
About AdaptusAdaptus is a specialist management consulting firm that partners with leaders in business and society to solve complex sustainability challenges and strengthen resilience to climate change. Our work covers strategic and project risk, climate disclosure, decarbonisation, adaptation and nature. Our clients include essential service organisations, mining and asset-intensive companies, government agencies and regulators, and investors and financial institutions.
- We are growing our risk practice in Perth and are looking for a Consultant or Senior Consultant to join us.
- Your first assignments will be embedded in the project teams of major resources clients, supporting risk management on large capital projects as they move through feasibility studies and investment decisions into delivery. You will also work on our sustainability engagements, where the same risk skills apply to climate change, decarbonisation and nature.
- You will join a collaborative national team of specialists in risk, sustainability, climate change, economics and decision science, with a senior Adaptus risk advisor supporting you on every client assignment.
- We will match the level of the role to your experience.
- Keep project risk registers current in Excel and in tools such as Archer, with each risk clearly described, owned and assessed
- Run monthly reviews with risk owners, track mitigation actions and draft the risk section of monthly project reports
- Prepare and co-facilitate risk workshops with project managers, discipline leads and subject matter experts
- Work with cost and schedule controls to show how risks affect project delivery
- Help clients weigh options on cost, risk reduction and residual risk, using ISO 31000
- Apply the same skills to climate risk, decarbonisation and AASB S2 disclosure work
- Contribute to proposals, our methods and our digital decision-support tools
• Updating risks in Archer with owners on a major WA mining project at feasibility stage
• Preparing for and co-facilitating a risk workshop for the next stage of that project
• Helping a resources company weigh decarbonisation options on cost and residual risk
• Supporting a climate risk assessment or AASB S2 disclosure for an ASX-listed company
For both levels:
• Experience in project, enterprise or operational risk, in sustainability, or ideally both
• A degree in engineering, commerce, science, economics, sustainability or similar
• Strong Excel skills. Archer or similar risk software, or QRA/SRA experience, is a plus
• The organisation and follow-through to keep registers accurate and chase risk owners
• Clear communication and confidence with senior engineers and project managers
• An interest in how climate change, decarbonisation and nature create business risk
• Experience in resources, energy or major capital projects is highly regarded
You will work inside a client project team, keeping risk registers current, preparing workshops and drafting risk reports, with a senior Adaptus advisor guiding your work. You are eager to learn, take ownership of your work and bring fresh perspectives.
In addition to the above, you will:
• Act as day-to-day risk lead in a client project team
• Lead workstreams or small teams and own the quality of deliverables
• Manage scope, timelines and budgets, and identify and mitigate project-level risks
• Build relationships with client project teams and contribute to proposals
• Mentor junior team members and share knowledge and leading practice
• Meaningful work that helps leaders make better decisions for a more sustainable and resilient future
• Hands-on work on major resources projects alongside experienced risk advisors
• A multi-disciplinary national team where your contribution is visible and valued
• Hybrid, flexible working, clear development pathways and investment in your growth
• An agile, national team that moves quickly, adapts to what clients need, and gives you responsibility from day one.
• Our values: Impact, Excellence, Ingenuity, Partnership and Ownership
We value that each member of our team brings something different. If this role excites you but your experience doesn’t match every point, we still encourage you to apply. We are drawn to people who have solved complex problems as part of a team.

• Your earliest start date and your preference for full-time or part-time work
• Confirmation that you are based in Perth and hold Australian work rights
