Safety, Health and Environment Manager
The Safety, Health, and Environment Manager is responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing work environments and designing programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury caused by chemical, physical, and biological agents or ergonomic factors across all CBL locations. The Safety, Health and Environment Manager will also conduct inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals. Additionally, the manager will be jointly responsible for the development and maintenance of a culture of Safety, Health, and Wellness at CBL.
Major Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain CBL’s Health & Safety policies, procedures, emergency response plans, and safety systems.
- Conduct regular workplace safety inspections and audits to identify unsafe conditions, practices, and behaviors, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, health-related complaints, and hazards; analyze trends and implement preventative measures to reduce recurrence.
- Ensure the availability and proper use of PPE, fire prevention equipment, first-aid supplies, and other safety controls, while promoting safe work practices.
- Coordinate inspections by government regulatory bodies, oversee the implementation of recommendations, and provide expert health and safety guidance to management and stakeholders.
- Partner with People and Culture to develop and deliver health and safety training, onboarding materials, awareness programs, and initiatives that build safety competencies across the organization.
- Maintain accurate Health, Safety & Environment records and data, support the development of safety-related KPIs, and monitor performance against established standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Environmental Safety, Engineering or related field with specialized training in Occupational Health and Safety management
- Five (5) years’ work experience in Health and Safety Management in a distribution or manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in the use of computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
- Working Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
