About your future role

The Payment Schemes Compliance Specialist supports the effective management of the organization’s obligations towards international payment schemes. The role is responsible for monitoring and interpreting scheme requirements, coordinating impact assessments and implementation activities, maintaining compliance records, and supporting timely responses to scheme inquiries and operational obligations.

Working under the direction of the Senior Payment Schemes Manager, the role acts as a key liaison between payment schemes and internal stakeholders across business, operations, technology and control functions.

Your key responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Act as the day-to-day point of contact for international payment schemes, including Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club, American Express and UnionPay, within the governance framework established by the Senior Payment Scheme Manager.

  • Monitor scheme mandates, bulletins, operating regulations and implementation deadlines, maintaining a complete and up-to-date register of applicable requirements and obligations.

  • Perform initial impact assessments of scheme changes across acquiring, issuing and processing activities, identifying affected products, systems, processes, controls and stakeholders.

  • Coordinate the communication of scheme requirements to relevant business, operations, technology, risk, fraud, finance, legal, compliance and dispute-management teams, ensuring requirements are clearly understood and assigned.

  • Support the translation of scheme obligations into defined business and technical actions, and track implementation plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, evidence and outstanding decisions through completion.

  • Escalate material requirements, implementation risks, delays and potential instances of non-compliance in a timely and structured manner.

  • Coordinate recurring scheme operational activities, including submissions, attestations, registrations, certifications, surveys and information requests, ensuring accuracy, completeness and adherence to applicable deadlines.

  • Support the management of scheme compliance cases, inquiries, fees and assessments by coordinating internal responses, gathering supporting evidence and monitoring corrective actions through closure.

  • Maintain complete and auditable records of scheme communications, decisions, implementation evidence, exemptions and compliance actions.

  • Contribute to the oversight of vendors, processors and other external partners involved in scheme-related services by monitoring deliverables, service quality and contractual or compliance obligations.

  • Develop and maintain scheme-related policies, procedures, controls, working instructions and management reporting, promoting consistency and continuous improvement across the organisation.

  • Provide regular, concise and accurate status reporting to support governance forums, audits and internal or external reviews as required.
