We are seeking an experienced Senior Application Developer to design, develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and modernize enterprise applications supporting critical business operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Oracle Forms, PL/SQL, SQL, Unix/Linux Shell scripting, and Java, along with the ability to understand and support complex legacy applications. This role requires someone who can work across existing legacy platforms while helping transition functionality to modern technologies and architectures.

The candidate should be comfortable working independently, analyzing complex application issues, collaborating with business and technical teams, and supporting applications throughout the full software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise applications using Oracle Forms, PL/SQL, SQL, Shell scripting, and Java.

  • Analyze existing legacy applications and understand complex business and technical processes.

  • Perform application enhancements, bug fixes, production support, and technical troubleshooting.

  • Develop and optimize complex Oracle SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, packages, triggers, and database processes.

  • Maintain and enhance Oracle Forms applications and related components.

  • Develop and maintain Unix/Linux Shell scripts for application processing, data movement, scheduling, and operational activities.

  • Develop or maintain Java-based components and integrations.

  • Analyze application performance and identify opportunities for optimization.

  • Work with technical teams to troubleshoot issues across application, database, middleware, and batch-processing layers.

  • Participate in requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing, implementation, and production support.

  • Support application integrations with other enterprise systems.

  • Analyze legacy functionality and identify opportunities for application modernization, simplification, and decommissioning.

  • Assist in migrating legacy functionality to modern platforms and technologies where appropriate.

  • Ensure that legacy functionality is fully understood and documented before modernization or retirement.

  • Review existing code and determine dependencies, business rules, interfaces, and downstream impacts.

  • Develop technical documentation, design documents, support documentation, and implementation plans.

  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards.

  • Work closely with Business Analysts, Product Owners, QA, Infrastructure, Database, and other technology teams.

  • Support SIT, UAT, production deployments, and post-production validation.

  • Participate in production support and incident resolution as needed.

  • Provide technical estimates and contribute to project planning.

  • Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance to other team members.

Required Technical Skills

Oracle / PL/SQL

  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database.

  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL.

  • Experience developing:

  • Stored procedures

  • Functions

  • Packages

  • Triggers

  • Cursors

  • Complex SQL queries

  • Data processing routines

  • Experience with SQL performance tuning and query optimization.

  • Ability to troubleshoot database-related application issues.

Oracle Forms

  • Experience developing and supporting Oracle Forms applications.

  • Experience maintaining existing Oracle Forms applications and complex legacy code.

  • Ability to analyze Forms triggers, procedures, libraries, modules, and database dependencies.

  • Experience troubleshooting production issues within Oracle Forms environments.

Unix/Linux & Shell Scripting

  • Strong experience with Unix/Linux environments.

  • Experience developing and maintaining Shell scripts.

  • Understanding of batch processing, file processing, scheduling, logging, and error handling.

  • Experience troubleshooting Unix-based application processes.

Java

  • Working experience with Java development and maintenance.

  • Ability to understand and modify existing Java applications/components.

  • Experience with application integrations and APIs is preferred.

  • Understanding of Java-based enterprise application environments.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Oracle Forms modernization or migration.

  • Experience migrating legacy applications to Java or web-based technologies.

  • Experience with REST APIs and enterprise integrations.

  • Experience with batch processing and enterprise scheduling tools.

  • Experience with Git or other source-control systems.

  • Experience with CI/CD processes.

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

  • Experience with application performance tuning.

  • Experience with data migration and reconciliation.

  • Experience supporting high-volume enterprise applications.

  • Retail, distribution, supply chain, warehouse management, or other enterprise business-system experience is a plus.

Required Experience

  • 7+ years of software development experience.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle/PLSQL and Oracle Forms.

  • Strong experience with SQL and Unix/Linux Shell scripting.

  • Experience with Java.

  • Experience supporting and enhancing complex legacy applications.

  • Experience working with cross-functional technical and business teams.

  • Experience with production support and troubleshooting.
