Show job description

This is a well-established, New Zealand owned consultancy with more than 30 years in the market. Structural engineering is a key part of the business, backed by a large, loyal client base and plenty of repeat work. The business is now looking to grow and diversify its structural offering, and this role will play a big part in making that happen.

We're open to considering candidates in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch.

The opportunity

You'll work closely alongside the lead structural engineer and director, helping to grow the structural side of the business. It suits a senior or associate engineer who wants real influence over where the team goes next.

There is a pathway to ownership available, giving you a real stake in the business.

What you'll be doing

You will focus on new structural design, with a current leaning towards commercial developments. Alongside the design work, you will be the market facing face of the structural team, building relationships and bringing in new work.

You won't be starting from cold. The existing client base is large, so the focus is on connecting with it, building new relationships and diversifying the type of projects the team takes on. You'll collaborate with colleagues across the wider business, and help shape and grow the team over time.

What you'll bring

Ideally you'll have 10 or more years of structural engineering experience, with a strong background in new design. Chartership isn't necessary, but New Zealand experience is essential.

Just as important, you'll be well connected in the industry and comfortable in a client facing role. You enjoy building relationships, winning work and growing a team, as much as the technical side.

What's in it for you

A very real shareholding opportunity. This is a business that offers real flexible working, with working from home available, so you can fit your work around your life. You'll also get paid professional memberships, in-house training and mentoring, and strong support towards professional accreditation.
