As the business continues to scale, we are looking for a highly experienced Senior Bookkeeper to maintain accurate financial records, support month-end close, and provide reliable financial data to the broader finance team.
This role is ideal for someone who has worked in a high-growth e-commerce, CPG, or inventory-based business and understands the accounting complexities that come with multi-channel sales, inventory, and operational growth.
Role Overview
The Senior Bookkeeper will own day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting operations, ensuring financial transactions are accurately recorded, accounts are reconciled, and financial information is timely and reliable.
The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced remote environment. They should have strong experience with QuickBooks Online and ideally have worked with e-commerce platforms and inventory management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and transaction recording.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in QuickBooks Online.
- Perform monthly bank, credit card, payment processor, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and maintain accurate journal entries and supporting documentation.
- Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing, payment tracking, and collections support.
- Reconcile e-commerce and payment platforms such as Shopify, Amazon, Stripe, and other payment processors.
- Assist with inventory accounting, including inventory purchases, landed costs, COGS, adjustments, and inventory reconciliations.
- Reconcile sales, fees, refunds, chargebacks, and payouts across multiple sales channels.
- Maintain accurate records of accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and resolve accounting issues proactively.
- Assist with financial reporting and provide clean, accurate data for management reporting.
- Support the finance team with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and other ad hoc financial projects as needed.
- Work closely with operations, purchasing, and other internal teams to ensure financial transactions are properly captured.
- Help improve bookkeeping processes, controls, and accounting workflows as the company scales.
- Maintain organized documentation and audit-ready financial records.
Requirements
- 5+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience, with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Strong experience with QuickBooks Online.
- Previous experience working with e-commerce, CPG, retail, or inventory-based businesses strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting and general ledger processes.
- Experience with bank, credit card, payment processor, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of inventory, COGS, landed costs, and inventory reconciliation.
- Experience reconciling Shopify, Amazon, Stripe, or similar e-commerce/payment platforms.
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies and inconsistencies.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of accounting processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting a high-growth DTC e-commerce or CPG company.
- Experience with Amazon Seller Central and Shopify.
- Experience working with inventory-heavy businesses.
- Experience supporting month-end close and management reporting.
- Experience working alongside a Controller, Head of Finance, or CFO.
- Familiarity with accounting integrations and automation tools.
- CPA, accounting degree, or equivalent professional experience is a plus.
