Introduction
Your mission is to keep ab in den urlaub relevant to our customers even between their holidays. Many of our customers book a package holiday around once a year, leaving long periods with only a few natural touchpoints in between.
You will develop travel categories beyond the classic sun-and-beach segment – including luxury travel, ski holidays, city breaks and cruises – and create relevant reasons for package holiday customers to return more frequently. This role combines analytical thinking with hands-on execution across multiple teams. You will drive impact through expertise, data and influence rather than formal leadership responsibility.
Your tasks
- Increase the repeat booking rate of our package holiday customers by creating relevant touchpoints between bookings – the core objective and key success metric of this role.
- Analyze our customer base by cohorts, booking history, seasonality and destination, and determine which customer segments should be targeted with which travel categories and at what time.
- Develop travel categories beyond sun-and-beach holidays – including luxury travel, ski holidays, city breaks and short trips, as well as cruises – as strategic customer touchpoints rather than standalone revenue streams.
- Develop and own our recurring travel theme calendar together with Marketing: Which category should be prioritized at which point in the year, and what needs to be prepared in advance? For example, ski offers may need to be prepared in August for campaigns launching in October.
- Curate destinations, offers and customer ratings for the homepage, category pages, newsletters, app and social media channels, and maintain them independently in our CMS (Directus) using predefined templates.
- Ensure before campaigns go live that our offers are competitive in terms of selection, quality and pricing, and provide Commercial with data-backed recommendations on where the product offering or commercial conditions need to be improved.
- Work closely with Product and Marketing to position and promote the respective travel categories and achieve measurable results.
- Initiate success measurement together with Product and Business Intelligence, including a controlled test to assess the impact on customer retention.
Your profile
- Several years of professional experience in Category Management, e-commerce, digital product management, online sales or tourism product management.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with cohort and customer analysis; you are able to independently draw robust conclusions from customer data.
- Very good Excel skills as well as experience with web analytics and business intelligence tools such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Power BI or Tableau.
- A strong understanding of marketing channels and user experience (UX), enabling you to identify where and how bookings and revenue can be increased.
- A good understanding of travel categories and their seasonality, or the ability to build this knowledge quickly; experience in tourism or with an online travel platform is a strong advantage.
- A hands-on mindset: you are confident working with CMS systems, curating offers and optimizing pages independently.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to bring together Business Intelligence, CRM, Product, Content and Commercial without formal leadership authority.
- A strong sense of prioritization: you know which insights are merely interesting and which ones should lead to concrete action.
- A structured, proactive and independent way of working, combined with the ability to achieve cross-functional results through expertise and persuasion.
- Very good written and spoken German and English skills.
What we offer
- Real room to shape the business: Build travel categories and customer touchpoints that directly contribute to customer retention and repeat booking rates.
- Visible business impact: Your work directly influences one of our best-known travel brands and a large existing customer base.
- A data-driven senior role: Combine customer analytics, Category Management and hands-on execution, while testing and continuously developing your ideas.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Shape initiatives together with Marketing, Product, Business Intelligence, CRM, Content and Commercial.
- Ownership without traditional people management: Drive topics independently and influence stakeholders through expertise, data and clear priorities.
- A wide range of travel topics: From ski holidays and city breaks to luxury travel and cruises – develop categories with very different target groups and seasonal dynamics.
