Dexian is a leading US-based IT staffing and solutions company with approximately $1.2 billion in revenue and more than 12,000 associates worldwide. In Europe, Dexian operates entities in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Hungary, with an established technology delivery organisation in Central and Eastern Europe.

We seek to join our Dexian team, embedded in our global energy client in Budapest, a DBT Data Engineer. You will be part of a thriving consulting team embedded within our enterprise client, a global, integrated energy provider. This is initially a six-month contract role likely to be extended. We can offer a very attractive day rate. The role is remote, suitable for applicants from all Central Europe.

Large-scale enterprise data projects;

Overview: The Data Engineer builds, tests and documents DBT models and Snowflake objects that make up ServiceNow Data Products and their output views. The role is fully hands-on and covers the full life of each model: build from the design specification, test and reconcile against legacy data, document, register in the data catalog and support consumers once live. Engineers also take part in a rotating first-line support schedule for consumers during the transition.

Years of Experience: 4–7 years in data engineering, analytics engineering or data warehousing, including 2+ years building production DBT models and 2+ years on Snowflake.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate approved Analysis and Design Specifications (ADS) into production-ready DBT models across staging, transformation, business and presentation layers.
  • Build output views and Snowflake objects, including views, secure views, tables and materialized views, following agreed standards.
  • Write DBT tests (generic, singular and unit) and produce testing and validation evidence for each Data Product.
  • Reconcile new outputs against legacy SQL Server data marts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Optimize SQL transformations for performance and cost.
  • Build, run and monitor DBT jobs, and fix failures and defects.
  • Maintain DBT documentation and lineage for every model delivered.
  • Register Data Products and verify metadata in Collibra and write KB articles and technical documentation for the team and consumers.
  • Provide first-line support to consumers of delivered Data Products on a rotation: answering questions, guiding usage, triaging issues and escalating where needed.
  • Participate in code reviews, Agile ceremonies and knowledge transfer sessions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced DBT development and modeling experience, including layered project structure, refs and sources, macros, incremental models, tests and documentation.
  • Advanced SQL development skills, including complex joins, window functions, CTEs and query optimization.
  • Strong Snowflake data engineering experience, including performance tuning and working with views, secure views and materializations.
  • Understanding of Data Product concepts and Data Mesh architecture principles.
  • Experience developing enterprise-scale analytical data solutions using dimensional or layered modeling.
  • Experience with Git, pull requests and code review workflows.
  • Clear written and verbal communication for documentation and consumer support.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ServiceNow data model knowledge (incident, change, problem, request, CMDB and related tables).
  • Experience with ServiceNow data replication tools such as Snow Mirror.
  • Experience designing or implementing Data Products.
  • Experience migrating legacy SQL Server reporting or data mart logic to DBT and Snowflake.
  • Experience writing user-facing documentation or providing data support to business consumers.
  • Familiarity with data catalog tools such as Collibra.
  • Previous experience on Client or similar large-scale enterprise data projects; awareness of Client Central Data Hub (CDH) standards is a plus.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • DBT or Snowflake certifications (for example, DBT Analytics Engineering Certification, SnowPro Core).
