Senior Database Administrator

Role Description The Senior Database Administrator role is a part-time hybrid position based in Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates, with flexibility for some work from home. This role is responsible for managing and optimizing production and development databases, including monitoring performance, implementing indexing strategies, and handling capacity planning. Day-to-day tasks include designing and maintaining database schemas, configuring and managing replication, performing backups and restores, and ensuring data integrity and security. The Senior Database Administrator will troubleshoot database-related incidents, collaborate with engineering teams to support application releases, and create documentation and standards for database operations. This role may also involve contributing to automation scripts, advising on data architecture decisions, and supporting compliance with internal and external data policies.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Database Administration, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security management.
• Candidates should possess skills in Database Design and data modeling to build scalable, maintainable schemas supporting application and analytics needs.
• Candidates should possess experience working with Databases (e.g., relational and optionally NoSQL systems) and managing environments across development, test, and production.
• Candidates should possess expertise in Troubleshooting database issues, including query optimization, locking and concurrency problems, and connectivity errors.
• Candidates should possess skills in configuring and managing Replication, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Relevant experience with SQL (and optionally PL/SQL or T-SQL), scripting languages (such as Python or Bash), and database monitoring tools.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and document procedures and standards.
• Prior experience in a senior or lead DBA role and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience) is beneficial.
