Ireland-based
Predominantly remote, with approximately one day per week onsite in Dublin
About the Company
My client is an established Dublin-based digital agency working with major organisations on large-scale digital transformation, web and application programmes.
The agency brings together strategy, UX, UI, engineering, business analysis and digital performance capabilities to design, build and improve complex customer-facing digital products.
They are now seeking a highly experienced Senior Digital Project Manager / Principal Project Manager to take ownership of delivery across one of their largest and most strategically important client accounts.
About the Role
This is a senior agency-side delivery role for someone who is comfortable managing complex enterprise web and app programmes, leading multidisciplinary teams and operating as the primary point of contact for senior client stakeholders.
You will coordinate a dedicated delivery team of approximately 12–13 people across engineering, UX, UI, business analysis and QA, working in a multi-vendor environment.
The role requires strong Agile delivery capability, but equally important is commercial discipline.
You will be responsible for creating estimates and quotations, managing delivery against agreed hours and budgets, controlling scope and ensuring that changes are identified, communicated and commercially managed.
This is not an internal IT project-management role.
The successful candidate will have experience working in a digital agency, consultancy or similarly client-facing delivery environment where they have been accountable for both successful delivery and the commercial health of projects.
You will also need the confidence and gravitas to challenge both clients and internal teams, manage difficult conversations and hold people accountable while maintaining strong working relationships.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex enterprise web and application projects.
- Act as the senior day-to-day project lead for a major client relationship.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, UX, UI, business analysis, QA and other specialist disciplines.
- Manage delivery across internal, external and third-party resources.
- Run Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives.
- Manage epics, user stories, priorities and delivery backlogs.
- Work closely with client stakeholders to define requirements, priorities and desired outcomes.
- Translate business requirements into clear and achievable delivery plans.
- Lead discovery and scoping phases for new projects and product enhancements.
- Prepare project estimates, quotations and delivery plans.
- Manage projects against agreed estimates, budgets and allocated hours.
- Identify scope changes early and ensure additional requirements are commercially assessed and agreed.
- Maintain clear visibility of project financials, utilisation and delivery performance.
- Manage project risks, dependencies, issues and mitigation plans.
- Ensure projects remain aligned with agreed timelines, quality standards and commercial objectives.
- Provide clear and regular communication to senior client stakeholders.
- Lead difficult conversations around scope, priorities, delivery constraints and commercial implications where required.
- Hold project teams accountable for agreed commitments and delivery standards.
- Support monthly billing and wider resource and capacity planning.
- Work effectively within a multi-vendor delivery environment.
- Maintain high standards of process, governance and project documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve ways of working across the client account.
Requirements
- At least five years’ experience delivering complex digital projects, ideally in an agency or consultancy environment.
- Strong experience managing enterprise-scale website, web application or digital-product delivery.
- Experience significantly beyond small websites, campaign sites or landing-page projects.
- Proven experience working directly with senior clients in a service-led environment.
- Strong Agile delivery experience across Scrum, Kanban or hybrid Agile approaches.
- Hands-on experience running stand-ups, sprint planning, refinement, reviews and other Agile ceremonies.
- Strong experience managing backlogs, epics and user stories.
- Proven ability to estimate digital projects and prepare commercial quotations.
- Experience managing delivery against estimated hours, budgets and agreed scope.
- Strong understanding of scope control and commercial change management.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams including design, development, BA and QA.
- Strong stakeholder-management and client-relationship skills.
- Confidence handling challenging client conversations and resolving delivery issues.
- Ability to hold teams and stakeholders accountable while maintaining positive relationships.
- Strong project-planning, resource-planning and capacity-management skills.
- Experience using Jira for project and delivery management.
- Good technical awareness of modern web and application delivery, without needing to be a hands-on developer.
- Excellent organisation, communication, judgement and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities in a fast-moving client environment.
- Must be based in Ireland and able to attend client and agency meetings in Dublin when required.
Desirable
- Experience with collaboration and delivery tools such as Miro, Slack and Figma.
- Experience facilitating collaborative discovery, design or technical workshops.
- Understanding of UX, UI and design-system delivery.
- Experience with enterprise CMS platforms such as Kentico or similar.
- Experience managing delivery in a multi-agency or multi-vendor environment.
- Relevant Agile, Scrum, project-management or product-management certification.
The Opportunity
This is a senior delivery role with ownership of one of the agency’s most important long-term client relationships.
You will work with a substantial multidisciplinary team and oversee genuinely complex digital products and services used at scale.
The position offers significant autonomy and client exposure, while remaining within an agency environment where strategy, design and engineering work closely together.
The working model is predominantly remote, with approximately one day per week required onsite in Dublin. There is no expectation of routine evening or weekend work.
The package also includes healthcare, pension contribution, paid Christmas leave, birthday leave, training allowance, paid sick leave, enhanced family leave and a range of wellbeing and employee benefits.
