About the Role

The Senior Fragrance Composition Analysis Specialist provides advanced technical expertise in evaluating fragrance formulations, identifying aromatic compounds, interpreting analytical results, and assessing fragrance composition and quality. The role focuses on reviewing chromatographic and spectroscopic data, evaluating raw material profiles, investigating composition variations, and supporting fragrance development and quality assurance activities. Working entirely remotely, the specialist collaborates with perfumers, analytical laboratories, fragrance manufacturers, suppliers, and quality teams to deliver reliable composition assessments and scientifically supported recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret fragrance composition data generated through gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and other relevant analytical techniques.
  • Evaluate GC-MS chromatograms, mass spectra, retention indices, and compound identification reports.
  • Assess the qualitative and quantitative composition of fragrance mixtures, essential oils, aroma chemicals, and fragrance ingredients.
  • Identify and evaluate volatile and semi-volatile aromatic compounds within fragrance formulations.
  • Review analytical findings relating to fragrance raw material authenticity, purity, consistency, and potential adulteration.
  • Assess variations in fragrance composition across production batches, suppliers, and raw material sources.
  • Evaluate the contribution of individual aromatic compounds to fragrance character, stability, and overall formulation performance.
  • Review formulation records and composition data to identify discrepancies, unexpected components, and potential contamination.
  • Support the assessment of fragrance ingredient compatibility and interactions within complex formulations.
  • Interpret analytical data relating to fragrance stability, oxidation, degradation, and changes in volatile composition.
  • Review laboratory testing protocols, analytical validation records, and quality-control documentation.
  • Coordinate remotely with analytical laboratories to investigate inconsistent results and clarify compound identification findings.
  • Evaluate fragrance ingredient documentation against applicable industry standards and internal quality specifications.
  • Support assessments of fragrance composition in perfumes, cosmetics, personal care products, home fragrances, and related applications.
  • Prepare detailed composition analysis reports, technical summaries, and evidence-based recommendations.
  • Maintain traceable records of analytical reviews, ingredient assessments, batch comparisons, and technical findings.
  • Support fragrance research and development teams with composition insights and analytical interpretation.
  • Monitor developments in analytical chemistry, aroma ingredient characterization, and fragrance quality assessment methodologies.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Significant experience in fragrance analysis, aroma chemistry, analytical laboratory work, or fragrance quality assurance.
  • Strong understanding of fragrance composition, aromatic compounds, essential oils, and synthetic aroma ingredients.
  • Practical knowledge of gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and gas chromatography with flame ionization detection (GC-FID).
  • Experience interpreting chromatograms, mass spectra, retention indices, and compound identification results.
  • Familiarity with complementary analytical techniques such as FTIR, HPLC, and other relevant spectroscopic or chromatographic methods.
  • Knowledge of fragrance raw material quality, authenticity assessment, impurity profiling, and batch consistency evaluation.
  • Understanding of fragrance stability, oxidation, degradation pathways, and formulation compatibility.
  • Familiarity with relevant IFRA standards, applicable fragrance ingredient restrictions, and industry quality practices.
  • Experience reviewing safety data sheets, technical data sheets, certificates of analysis, and ingredient specifications.
  • Knowledge of relevant quality management principles and laboratory practices, including ISO/IEC 17025.
  • Strong analytical reasoning, data interpretation, and technical report-writing abilities.
  • Proficiency in analytical data processing, spreadsheets, and laboratory information management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently with geographically distributed teams.
What We Offer
  • Fully remote working arrangement within the stated UAE job location.
