Senior Mechanisms Engineer - Aerospace and Satellite client - Long term B2B / Freelance


Amazing opportunity to join a pioneer in the Aerospace industry to support on the development of project critical mechanisms. Its a unique role allowing to take ownership of multiple mechanisms and collaborating with the continents best engineers.


Locations: Hybrid in Belgium


Language: English


Contract: 6 month rolling contract


To be successful in this role you must have proven expertise in developing reliable and robust mechanism engineering in harsh environments (Aerospace background is not not needed)


Key Skills / responsibilities


  • Lead end-to-end development of space-qualified mechanisms, from concept and requirements through design, qualification and delivery.
  • Design and develop latching, push-off, deployment, release and precision mechanisms.
  • Manage requirements, architectures, design reviews, trade-offs, verification and technical risk in line with ECSS/NASA standards.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary activities across mechanical, electronics, systems, AIT, manufacturing and quality teams.
  • Provide technical oversight of suppliers and subcontractors, including procurement and development activities.
  • Define and support verification, qualification and acceptance testing, including vibration, shock, thermal vacuum and life testing.
  • Act as the mechanisms technical expert in customer reviews and major project milestones.
  • Apply expertise in mechanism sizing, tolerance analysis, tribology and reliability engineering.
  • 5+ years' experience in mechanism or related hardware development; Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Mechatronics or related engineering.
