Senior Node.js Developer

PsychPlus is building technology-driven solutions to make mental healthcare more accessible and efficient. We're looking for a talented and motivated Node.js Developer to join our engineering team and help build, maintain, and scale reliable backend systems.

Role Overview

We are seeking a strong Node.js Developer with solid backend engineering experience, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to build scalable, secure, and high-performance applications.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience designing APIs, working with databases, integrating third-party services, and building production-ready backend systems.

Experience with Flutter or React is a plus, but our primary focus is finding an excellent Node.js engineer.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Node.js.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Design, optimize, and manage database structures and queries.
• Integrate third-party APIs, services, and external platforms.
• Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and technical issues.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and security best practices.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and other engineers.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture decisions.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve application performance and reliability.

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development experience, preferably with a strong focus on Node.js.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Node.js backend development.
• Experience with frameworks such as Express.js or NestJS.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs and backend architecture.
• Experience working with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
• Familiarity with authentication mechanisms, JWT, OAuth, and API security.
• Experience with Git, version control, and collaborative development workflows.
• Understanding of asynchronous programming, event-driven architecture, and performance optimization.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot issues and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote team.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with React.js or Next.js.
• Experience with Flutter and Dart.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with Redis, message queues, and background jobs.
• Experience working on healthcare, telehealth, or SaaS applications.
• Understanding of HIPAA or other healthcare data privacy and security requirements.
