Ready to Take Your Product Design Engineering Experience to a Bigger Stage?

This successful Australian designer and manufacturer creates everyday consumer products for major retailers across Australia and New Zealand, with an expanding international presence.

They are seeking a Senior Product Design Engineer with deep, hands-on expertise in plastics and injection moulding, ideally gained across home storage, laundry, organisation or other high-volume consumer products.

It is a genuine idea-to-shelf opportunity, combining design thinking with the technical depth required to turn a strong concept into a commercially viable product that can be produced at scale.

A Different Kind of Product Business

This is an ambitious, commercially driven business—but it believes how you grow matters.

Led by exceptional people, they have built a refreshingly different workplace where everyone has a voice and individuals are genuinely valued.

Their philosophy is simple:

People first. Customers second. Products third.

Because great people who genuinely understand their customers create better products.

The Role—From Idea to Shelf

Working across Design & Product, Buying, Sales & Marketing, Engineering and international manufacturing partners, you will:

  • Research consumers, markets, materials and emerging product opportunities
  • Translate customer needs into innovative, manufacturable plastic products
  • Create advanced SolidWorks CAD, complex surfacing and production-ready designs
  • Engineer injection-moulded components with careful consideration of draft, wall thickness, ribs, snap-fits, undercuts, tolerances and assembly
  • Anticipate common moulding challenges including sink, shrinkage, warpage and part complexity
  • Apply strong engineering and DFM principles from the earliest concept stage
  • Select plastic materials and resin grades based on performance, durability, cost, manufacturability and environmental impact
  • Develop products that balance strength, functionality, material usage, production efficiency and target cost
  • Prototype, test, validate and refine products for usability, performance and longevity
  • Work directly with engineers, toolmakers, suppliers and manufacturing partners throughout tooling, trials and mass production
  • Review samples and resolve technical or production issues before final approval

About You

You will bring five or more years’ experience in Product Design Engineering, ideally within home storage, laundry, organisation, household products or other high-volume consumer categories.

Most importantly, you must have genuine experience engineering injection-moulded plastic products for mass production.

You will also have:

  • Deep technical knowledge of plastics and injection-moulding processes
  • Advanced SolidWorks and surfacing capability
  • A thorough understanding of tooling, materials, tolerances, assembly and DFM
  • Experience working directly with toolmakers, suppliers and manufacturing partners
  • Proven involvement in taking plastic products from concept through tooling and into mass production
  • The commercial awareness to balance design intent, performance, material usage, tooling complexity and cost
  • Relevant Industrial Design, Product Design or Engineering qualifications

Why Make the Move?

Because growth shouldn’t come at the expense of people, customers or partnerships.

The culture is deliberately different.

Good ideas don’t need to travel through layers of hierarchy before they are heard, and job titles don’t determine whose opinion matters.

People come first. Customers are treated as partners, not transactions. Suppliers and manufacturing partners are respected as an important part of creating great products.

The belief is simple: when you look after your people, genuinely understand your customers and build strong partnerships, better products and stronger commercial results follow.

For a Product Design Engineer, that means more than another job.

It means having a seat at the table, greater ownership from idea to shelf, direct exposure to customers and decision-makers, and the opportunity to influence how products are designed, engineered and manufactured.

You’ll join an Australian business with significant international exposure that is determined to grow without losing what makes it different:

Great people. Strong customer partnerships. Better products. Smarter materials. Responsible choices.
