MRM Revenue and Reconciliation is part of the De Beers Mining and Discovery (M&D) Mineral Resource Management (MRM) technical team and encompasses Diamond Revenue Analysis (DRA) and diamond revenue modelling for both operations and projects. The department is responsible for creating and maintaining revenue models for all De Beers group mines and creating revenue estimates for potential new mines based on sample data. It generates the revenue estimates and forecasts which are the primary source of price information used for financial management models, the Life of Asset Business Plans, Resource and Reserve statements and the DBGSS Intentions to Offer (ITOs). The department also provides technical and strategic leadership to revenue contacts throughout the De Beers Group.

The purpose of this role is to act as the Group’s subject matter expert and owner for revenue estimation and forecasting within De Beers. It ensures that Diamond Revenue models are developed to an appropriate level of confidence, providing reliable inputs to support operational and strategic decision making across the Group.

Key Tasks:

  • Define and implement Diamond Resource Revenue Models for all De Beers Group operations, and potential future mines based on sample data.
  • Ensure Diamond Revenue Modelling and Diamond Revenue Analysis (DRA) within the Group, comply with business requirements, reporting codes and regulations prevailing in the country of activities.
  • Define Diamond Revenue Modelling processes and guidelines from sampling through to forecasting, and their practical application into M&D MRM and the Business Units (BU’s).
  • Uphold strong diamond data validation processes and guidelines to ensure revenue and assortment inputs are accurate, statistically robust and fit for purpose.
  • Ensure Diamond Revenue Models are aligned to the latest De Beers Group Price Book, ensuring alignment across operations and clear reconciliation of resulting Price Book changes.
  • Compile Revenue Forecasts for the BU’s, Group Finance and GSS based on operational plans and budgets from Business Planning submissions (data calls).
  • Reconcile revenue estimates and forecasts per series per unit, identifying assortment variances and clearly defining the impact on operational revenues, processing plans and GSS supply.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate Mineral Resource Classification Scorecards for Revenue within the Mineral Resource Classification System ensuring appropriate confidence rating of resources and reserves in line with applicable reporting codes (e.g. SAMREC).
  • Develop and maintain a technical risk register for Diamond Revenue management, as part of the Resource and Reserve Risk register, highlighting areas of concern to be addressed by the operational teams.
  • Deconvolute revenue data where production is combined ensuring revenues are appropriately allocated to the affected operations.
  • Act as the primary interface with Competent Persons, Group Sightholder Sales, Pricing & Development, reporting and Group Strategy on Diamond Resource Revenue matters.
  • Promotion of all aspects of SHE.
  • Support broader Mineral Resource Management governance across the Group
  • Contribute to functional reviews of resource models to ensure revenue is appropriately represented
  • Drive improved business performance through the effective application of Diamond Revenue expertise
  • Develop and support talent within Diamond Revenue modelling and reconciliation.
  • Align and strengthen discipline health, including standards, practices and technical development across the Group.
  • Tertiary qualification in a mining discipline, geosciences, statistics, econometrics or similar.
  • Registered professional and full member of relevant professional discipline institute (Preferred)

Experience statement should include reference to:

  • 5 years’ experience at a senior level (Mining discipline, diamond sorting & sales, diamond pricing).
  • Experience defining standards, guidelines, and processes
  • Experience identifying and mitigating Operational risks
  • Experience in the evaluation of projects & operations.

Knowledge and Skills

Technical:

  • Advanced understanding of the entire diamond pipeline including sorting and aggregation and sales.
  • Experience with mining governance, audit processes, and reporting systems
  • Understanding of Diamond Revenue Analysis
  • Expert understanding of the GSS diamond assortment and Group sales strategy.
  • A good understanding of DTC and GSS data structures and systems.

Commercial:

  • Knowledge of tender processes, contractor administration and financial progress monitoring
  • Manage service level agreements.

Management:

  • Experience in a management position, including the successful management of a sub-functional team
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across operations
  • High levels of integrity and commitment to transparent reporting
  • Strong analytical thinking and decision-making capability
  • Ability to balance technical rigor with practical business needs
  • Drives strategy to optimise processes, manage external factors and leverage technology to support future business needs
