Senior Software Engineer / Architect | Geospatial & Cloud

Location: Remote (from UK) with monthly visit onsite in Luton

Peaple Talent has partnered with a prominent European leader in space systems, satellite operations, and earth observation technologies who are seeking a Senior Software Engineer / Architect to join their Ground Software Systems division.

This role offers remote flexibility from anywhere in the UK with monthly visits to the office and involves playing a senior, influential role in developing and modernising the UK Government’s environmental Data Services Platform.

Working across both hands-on software development and high-level cloud architecture, you will build brand-new web applications, enhance existing features, and oversee cloud infrastructure. You will work closely with geospatial and spatial/non-spatial datasets, managing complex Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipelines and orchestrating modern cloud-native environments.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years' experience in modern full-stack web technologies (preferably TypeScript, Python, React, FastAPI, or PostgreSQL).
  • Exposure to cloud-native software engineering and architecture (ideally within Azure, Docker, and Kubernetes environments)
  • Technical familiarity with spatial data, Earth Observation, environmental monitoring, GIS, or location-based data services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architecting, developing, and maintaining high-performance web applications using a variety of modern tech stacks.
  • Managing Azure cloud services, infrastructure resources, and Kubernetes clusters using Terraform (IaC).
  • Enhancing system security, performance, and operational efficiency across multi-cloud environments.
  • Designing and optimizing spatial data workflows, incorporating GeoServer, OGC APIs, and spatial/non-spatial ETL pipelines.
  • Driving CI/CD deployment workflows using tools such as ArgoCD, Buildkite, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Actions.
  • Providing technical leadership within Agile teams, authoring technical proposals, and producing clear architectural documentation.

If you are a cloud-focused engineer or architect looking to make a direct impact on UK environmental and space-data platforms, please apply with your updated CV today.
