Senior SQL Database Migration Engineer

Contract: 12 months (subject to extension).

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Salary: Not a constraint for the right candidate!

Experience: 6-8 years.

Hybrid: 2 days Work from Home 3 days Work from Office

Your Profile & DNA:

We are looking for a Senior SQL Database Migration Engineer to support a large-scale infrastructure migration.

You will be responsible for planning, executing and validating Microsoft SQL Server upgrades and database migrations in enterprise environments.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Plan and execute SQL Server upgrades and database migrations
• Perform in-place upgrades and side-by-side migrations
• Assess database environments, dependencies and compatibility
• Coordinate migration windows, cutovers and production migrations
• Validate data integrity, performance, security and availability
• Support high availability, backup/recovery and disaster recovery activities
• Perform post-migration validation and provide technical documentation
• Work closely with application owners and infrastructure teams during testing, go-live and hypercare

Qualification & Experience

• A Bachelor's or Master's Degree or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration
• Proven experience with SQL Server upgrades and database migrations
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server 2012–2022, SSMS, T-SQL and SQL Server Agent
• Experience with Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, Replication, Log Shipping and Backup/Restore
• Experience supporting critical business applications and production cutovers
• Experience in enterprise, managed service or outsourced environments
• Knowledge of Windows Server and VMware environments
• Azure SQL / AWS RDS experience is a plus
