How will you make an impact in this role?


The Special Agent is responsible for conducting internal and external investigations in the Philippines to protect American Express, its customers and colleagues from fraud, misconduct, harm and loss. The role independently manages routine and moderately complex cases with minimal supervision, assists with highly complex matters, and may support Global Security team members across Southeast Asia. The primary focus of the role is Investigations, with occasional cross-functional support for physical security and crisis response. The role reports to the Director for Global Security - Southeast Asia. This is a hybrid, Monday-to-Friday role that will support night shift operations and entails 24/7 on-call availability for urgent Global Security matters

  • Conduct routine and moderately complex fraud, misconduct, internal and security-related investigations with minimal supervision, and assist with highly complex matters.

  • Interview complainants, witnesses, subjects and suspects, and accurately document statements and investigative activity.

  • Maintain complete, accurate and timely case records, reports, evidence and outcomes in approved case-management systems.

  • Prepare investigative reports, witness statements, law-enforcement referrals and responses to court orders, and testify in court when required.

  • Work with law enforcement, internal stakeholders and industry counterparts to investigate cases, support prosecution or other appropriate action, and reduce risk or loss.

  • Identify trends, control gaps and security weaknesses, and recommend appropriate risk-mitigation actions.

  • Handle sensitive internal matters, including fraud investigations and policy-violation reviews, with appropriate discretion, escalation and confidentiality.

  • Support investigations in the Philippines and assist Global Security team members across Southeast Asia, as required.

  • Provide occasional cross-functional support for physical security and crisis response in accordance with established protocols and under appropriate directions.

  • Maintain 24/7 on-call availability for urgent investigative, physical-security or crisis-response matters, including outside regular working hours, weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in investigations, law enforcement, corporate security, fraud, risk management, compliance or a related field.

  • Strong analytical, judgment, communication, stakeholder-management and time-management skills, with the ability to independently manage routine and moderately complex investigations.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and professionalism.

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Preferred fields include business, criminal justice, law, security or social sciences.

  • Working knowledge of applicable Philippine laws, privacy requirements, evidence-handling standards, interviewing techniques, law-enforcement referrals and court-related processes is preferred.
