Job Title: Senior Enterprise Architect
Department / Division: Technology – Enterprise Architecture
Salary Range: $128,999 - $142,577
Location: Ada, MI (On-Site M-Th, WFH Fri)
What We’re Looking For:
Amway is rebuilding its enterprise architecture function around one goal: a simpler technology estate that the organization can change faster. We enable delivery teams rather than govern them, and the Senior Enterprise Architect is where that function meets delivery reality. You will work directly with delivery teams to close the architectural decisions they can't close alone, build the current picture of your domains (what exists, how it connects, who owns it, and why it was built that way), and turn that knowledge into architecture metadata and guidance that people, AI tools, and development agents can query. This is a hands-on role: you are as comfortable tracing an undocumented data flow as you are documenting the pattern that comes out of it and contributing to the tooling that makes it reusable.
What You’ll Do:
- Own a portfolio of domains (rotated periodically) as the EA team's primary partner, driving alignment with domain architects on architectural solutions
- Consult with delivery teams through focused, time-boxed engagements on unclear capability ownership, technology decisions, missing integration guidance, and absent cross-domain context
- Investigate and resolve open architecture decisions within your domains, framing them on cost, risk, and resilience, involving affected teams, and producing authoritative decision records
- Build and maintain the current-state landscape for your domains: systems, capabilities, owners, lifecycle, integrations, and data flows
- Reverse-engineer undocumented systems and integrations, and identify where intended architecture diverges from what is actually deployed
- Contribute to the future-state landscape and initiative roadmaps, flagging dependencies, open decisions, and sources of delay
- Contribute hands-on to the architecture metadata and the AI-powered architecture advisor built on it, developing solution patterns, integration standards, and data lineage in structured, queryable formats
- Implement fitness functions and automated conformance checks for CI/CD pipelines and agentic development workflows
- Drive adoption of decision records, advisor usage, and automated checks by demonstrating value and reducing friction, and help run open advisory sessions where any team can bring an architectural question
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
- 6+ years in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, software engineering, or senior technical roles spanning multiple teams or domains
- Demonstrated ability to investigate open architecture decisions and drive them to documented resolution
- Experience documenting existing landscapes, integrations, and data flows, including legacy systems with limited documentation
- Experience consulting with delivery teams in an advisory or enabling capacity: providing context and driving adoption without taking over their work
Skills to be successful in the role:
- Strong working knowledge of cloud and on-premises hosting, integration and event-driven patterns, data architecture, and enterprise system landscapes
- Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows to accelerate analysis, development, and documentation
- Experience producing architectural documentation people actually use: decision records, pattern guides, integration standards
- Track record driving adoption through influence and demonstrated value, not mandate
- Ability to facilitate productive working sessions across teams with competing priorities and to work with stakeholders across geographies and time zones
- Ability to work as a builder, contributing directly to tooling, metadata, and automated checks alongside advisory work
- Experience applying security requirements within architecture standards and development practices
- Preferred: commerce domain experience (order management, inventory and available-to-sell, ERP, customer master data) and global multi-market organizations
What’s special about this team:
You'll be one of the first members of a newly rebuilt Enterprise Architecture team, with a real hand in shaping how it works. We are an enabling team, not a review board: delivery teams are our customers, and we measure success by decisions closed, friction removed, and whether teams come back to us. The team is small by design and everyone builds, working across the US, India, and Malaysia alongside a council of architects embedded in delivery teams. As the role with the most direct delivery-team contact, you'll see your impact quickly, and it's cumulative: every decision you close, system you map, and pattern you document becomes shared knowledge that helps every team after you, and gives Amway's AI tools ground truth to work from.
Amway does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role. Do not apply for this role if you will need Amway immigration sponsorship (e.g., H-1B, STEM OPT, TN, etc.) now or in the future.
Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
