About the company
Our client is a law firm.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Join a tax practice as a transactional attorney, supporting partners on the tax dimensions of deals and planning engagements. The role blends document work, negotiation and advisory conversations with a range of private clients.
What you'll do
- Provide guidance on the multi-level tax consequences of corporate deals, including sales, combinations, alliances and reorganizations.
- Prepare, revise and negotiate the tax-related clauses in deal paperwork.
- Help individuals and closely held entities design tax-efficient ownership and business arrangements.
- Guide clients through preparatory restructuring steps ahead of a transaction.
- Support partners on income tax engagements and meet an annual billable hours goal.
What we're looking for
- 3 to 4 years of law firm experience in income and transactional tax work; accounting or advisory experience alone is not enough.
- A JD from an accredited law school, with a transcript provided on application.
- Active California Bar membership, or the ability to obtain it.
- A track record in deal-focused tax work, not only general corporate practice.
- Working knowledge of pass-through and corporate entity structures.
- Skill in drafting and negotiating tax language within deal documents.
- Comfort meeting a billable target of 1,900+ hours per year.
- Compensation expectations that fit within the stated base salary range.
Bonus points
- LLM in Taxation.
- Experience at a mid-sized or large law firm.
- Exposure to private company or wealth-management style clients.
Compensation and benefits
- Base salary: USD 230,000 to 350,000 per year
