What You'll Do Lead and Develop Talent Inspire, coach, mentor, and support a team of construction professionals to achieve individual and team goals. Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture focused on safety, quality, and client service. Support employee onboarding, engagement, career development, succession planning, and performance management activities. Provide technical guidance and developmental feedback to help employees enhance their skills and advance their careers. Monitor team performance and ensure direct reports meet performance expectations, utilization goals, and business objectives. Drive Construction Operations Excellence Coordinate and manage staff resources to support successful project delivery and achievement of operational goals. Partner with operations leaders to forecast workforce needs and align staffing strategies with project demands. Evaluate utilization, workload distribution, technical expertise, and field availability to ensure teams are positioned for success. Collaborate with project managers, construction leaders, and subject matter experts to resolve resource challenges and staffing priorities. Participate in project kickoff meetings and support construction teams throughout project execution. Champion Communication and Change Serve as a trusted resource and primary supervisory contact within the Construction team. Communicate organizational priorities, policies, safety initiatives, and strategic objectives effectively. Help employees navigate change by clearly communicating business goals and operational priorities. Manage employee relations matters of routine complexity and collaborate with Human Resources and leadership on more complex situations. Provide ongoing follow-up and support for employee development plans, performance improvement plans, and career growth initiatives. Contribute Technical Expertise Provide construction-related technical support and subject matter expertise to team members. Promote quality, consistency, safety, and continuous improvement across field and office operations. Stay current on industry trends, construction methodologies, regulations, safety practices, and best practices. Contribute directly to project work while maintaining personal utilization goals. Prepare and review reports, presentations, staffing plans, and operational documentation. Additional Responsibilities Support hiring, promotion, transfer, and staffing recommendations. Demonstrate sound judgment and ethical decision-making in all business activities. Uphold and promote KLJ's values, Code of Conduct, and commitment to employee success. Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support business objectives. What We're Looking For Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience within a technical, engineering, or construction consulting environment. 7+ years of progressive experience within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. Previous experience leading, supervising, mentoring, or coordinating construction, engineering, or technical staff. Strong understanding of project delivery processes, construction operations, and workforce management. Demonstrated ability to balance business objectives with employee development and team engagement. Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building abilities. Ability to effectively influence, coach, and direct others while fostering collaboration. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and industry-standard construction, engineering, and project management software. Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic work environment. Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed. Preferred Qualifications Experience leading multidisciplinary construction or engineering teams. Experience supporting workforce planning, utilization management, and resource forecasting. Experience working on transportation, municipal, water, energy, or other infrastructure projects. Compensation & Benefits At KLJ, we recognize that attracting and retaining exceptional talent requires a competitive total rewards package. Salary Range: $105,000 - $145,000 annually Actual compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, technical expertise, geographic location, and overall fit for the role.
