Treasury Manager
South Manchester | £50,000 - £60,000 | Hybrid Working
Sowena Group are exclusively partnered with a high-growth, international consumer business in South Manchester in their search for a Treasury Manager.
This is a newly created role within an ambitious, acquisitive business experiencing significant growth across international markets. As cash movements, currency exposure and funding requirements continue to increase, the business is looking to bring treasury in-house properly, giving one person ownership of the function and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on financial performance.
Reporting into senior finance leadership, you'll take ownership of cash flow forecasting, FX management, banking relationships and treasury reporting, working closely with the CFO and Board to support key financial decisions. This is an opportunity for someone who knows their stuff technically but also enjoys being hands-on, building relationships across the business and identifying opportunities to improve returns on cash and manage risk.
With significant scope to shape the function, improve processes and potentially build a team as the business grows, this is an ideal opportunity for an experienced treasury professional looking to take ownership in a fast-paced, commercially focused environment.
About the Role
You'll be responsible for establishing and developing the group's treasury function, ensuring cash, currency exposure and funding requirements are managed effectively across multiple entities and international markets. Working closely with senior finance stakeholders and teams across the wider business, you'll turn financial data into meaningful insight, improve forecasting accuracy and
bring a more strategic approach to treasury management.
Key Responsibilities
• Cash Flow Forecasting: Take ownership of the group's cash flow forecasting, developing robust short and long-term forecasts, monitoring actual performance against expectations and providing clear insight into future cash requirements.
• FX & Currency Management: Manage foreign exchange exposure across international operations, booking forward contracts and identifying opportunities to improve currency conversion and manage risk.
• Hedging Strategy: Review currency and interest rate exposures, recommending appropriate hedging strategies and forward-looking improvements to protect the business from unnecessary volatility.
• Cash & Liquidity Management: Monitor group cash positions, manage surplus cash and deposits, and identify opportunities to maximise interest income and improve returns on available funds.
•Build and maintain strong relationships with banking partners and FX providers, reviewing existing arrangements, fees and facilities to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Board & Senior Reporting: Prepare treasury reporting for senior leadership and the Board, covering cash positions, forecast movements, FX exposure and funding requirements. Provide clear, commercially focused recommendations to support decision-making.
• Working Capital & Stock: Work closely with procurement, merchandising and operational teams to understand stock purchasing, supplier payments and expenditure, improving the accuracy of cash flow forecasts across the business.
• Systems & Processes: Develop treasury processes, reporting and controls, improving visibility over cash movements and ensuring the function can support the group's continued expansion.
• Acquisitions & Growth: Support treasury requirements arising from acquisitions, new entities and international expansion, ensuring cash management and currency arrangements evolve alongside the business.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve treasury performance, from increasing interest earned on cash balances to reducing banking costs and improving forecasting accuracy.
About You
• Proven experience in a treasury role within a sizeable, multi-entity and ideally international business.
• Strong technical knowledge of cash flow forecasting, FX management, forward contracts and currency exposure.
• Confident managing significant cash movements and developing forecasts that support business and funding decisions.
• Experience building relationships with banks and external providers, with the confidence to challenge existing arrangements and recommend improvements.
• Strong Excel skills and the ability to analyse complex financial information, identify trends and present clear recommendations.
• A confident communicator who can work effectively with senior finance leadership, the Board and non-finance teams across the business.
• Commercially minded and proactive, with the ability to take ownership, influence stakeholders and bring forward ideas rather than simply report the numbers.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, acquisitive environment where priorities can change and the treasury function is continuing to evolve.
Experience in retail, eCommerce or a stock-intensive business would be useful, particularly given the importance of inventory purchasing and supplier payments to cash flow.
What's on Offer
• Salary of £50,000 - £60,000, with some flexibility for the right candidate.
• Hybrid working in South Manchester.
• A newly created role with genuine ownership of the treasury function.
• Direct exposure to senior finance leadership and the Board.
• The opportunity to influence FX strategy, cash management and financial
performance across an international group.
• Scope to develop the function and potentially build a team as the business
continues to grow.
• The chance to make a visible impact in a high-growth, acquisitive business, with
opportunities to shape processes and demonstrate the value treasury can
deliver.
If you're an experienced treasury professional looking for a role where you can take ownership, influence decisions and build something as part of an ambitious growing business, we'd love to hear from you.
