About the role

In-house Veterinary Specialist providing veterinary consults via chat and video, conducting remote assessments of patients, and reviewing patient medical records. The role involves delivering high-quality patient care, demonstrating empathetic communication, and making clients feel valued. You will utilize clinical training and medical experience to evaluate medical records and provide exceptional care to patients virtually, while recognizing medical emergencies that require in-hospital visits.


Key responsibilities

  • Conduct veterinary consults via chat and video and provide a positive client experience
  • Remote assessment of patients via a secure video platform
  • Thorough review of patient medical records and past history including medications and problem list
  • Obtain patient history, perform visual examination, and identify problems to develop diagnostic, treatment, and follow-up plans
  • Provide client education on minor medical conditions, behavioral concerns, and small animal nutrition
  • Recognize medical emergencies and illnesses that require in-hospital patient visits
  • Review performance of partner veterinarians and make recommendations to ensure high-quality client experience
  • Provide knowledge and guidance to team members on best practices of veterinary medicine and new trends
  • Collaborate with Business Development, Operations, Marketing, and Product teams to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Support experiments conducted by the team that may require veterinary expertise


About you

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD) licensed
  • 3 to 4 years of total veterinary medical experience; 10+ years preferred
  • Strong veterinary general practice experience required
  • Veterinary emergency experience and teleconsult experience desirable
  • Familiarity with the use of eMedical Record systems for veterinary practice
  • Ability to review and maintain electronic patient medical records
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and staff about patient health concerns
  • Ability to work virtually as part of a remote team
  • Availability to work 40 hours per week; rotating weekend hours required
  • Ability to make decisions independently and exercise self-discipline and accountability
