Job Overview
Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer, the Vice President, Technology Strategy and Engineering leads Citadel’s Build-the-Future technology organization and is accountable for modernization, engineering capability, enterprise integration, and simplification of the technology portfolio.
The Vice President provides executive leadership for Software Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Enterprise Data Services, AI & Automation, and Technology Products & Platforms. The role translates enterprise technology direction into target-state architecture, engineering and platform roadmaps, trusted data capabilities, reusable integration services, responsible AI solutions, and modern banking technologies that support Citadel’s continued growth.
This position serves as a key strategic partner across the organization, helping position Citadel for continued growth through technology-enabled transformation, scalable digital capabilities, and modern enterprise platforms.
Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Innovation
- Develop and execute Citadel's technology modernization roadmap and future-state technology strategy.
- Owns enterprise integration, payment-system interoperability, fintech connectivity, real-time payment capabilities, and architectural evaluation of emerging financial technologies and digital currency. Partner with executive leadership to align technology investments with strategic business priorities.
- Establish technology standards, governance frameworks, and engineering practices that support scalability, quality, and innovation.
- Drive continuous modernization of applications, platforms, integrations, and enterprise technology capabilities.
- Partner with the VP, Infrastructure & Cloud to align cloud architecture, landing-zone capabilities, infrastructure roadmaps, resiliency patterns, engineering platforms, and application-modernization requirements.
Software Engineering Leadership
- Provide executive leadership for enterprise software engineering, application development, integration services, and DevOps functions.
- Establish engineering standards and development methodologies
- Quality Engineering, including test automation, performance testing, release-quality standards, and continuous improvement of software quality across the SDLC.
- Drive application modernization initiatives that improve scalability, reliability, and business agility.
- Lead software delivery capabilities that support digital banking, lending, operational, and member-facing solutions.
- Champion continuous improvement across development, release management, and deployment practices.
Enterprise Architecture & Technology Simplification
- Define and maintain Citadel's target-state technology architecture.
- Establish enterprise technology standards and architectural governance.
- Lead technology rationalization efforts, reducing complexity and technical debt across the organization.
- Ensure technology investments align with long-term architectural objectives.
- Oversee integration strategy and enterprise interoperability across systems and platforms.
Enterprise Data Services
- Lead enterprise data platforms, data engineering, data quality, governance technologies, metadata management, data integration capabilities, and and AI-ready data foundations
- Ensure scalable and secure data services that support organizational decision-making and growth.
- Partner with Finance and Analytics teams to enable effective access to enterprise data.
- Establish data platform strategies that support reporting, analytics, automation, and future AI initiatives.
- Oversee enterprise data architecture and information management capabilities.
AI & Automation
- Develop and execute Citadel's enterprise AI and automation strategy, including architecture, platforms, engineering, automation standards, reusable capabilities, adoption enablement, technology performance, and value measurement.
- Oversee AI platforms, intelligent automation solutions, and emerging technology capabilities.
- Establish governance, standards, and responsible use practices related to AI technologies.
- Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve efficiency, and enhance employee and member experiences.
- Monitor adoption, business value realization, and performance of AI-enabled solutions.
Enterprise Platforms & Business Systems
- Provide strategic oversight for enterprise technology platforms, core banking systems, and business applications.
- Develop long-term platform roadmaps that support business growth and operational efficiency.
- Oversee application lifecycle management, technology refresh planning, and platform modernization efforts.
- Ensure enterprise platforms are scalable, resilient, and aligned with organizational priorities.
- Partner with business leaders to maximize value realization from technology investments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive technology leadership experience, including responsibility for engineering, architecture, platforms, or enterprise technology functions.
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale technology modernization and transformation initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of software engineering, enterprise architecture, cloud technologies, data platforms, AI, automation, systems integration, and enterprise applications.
- Experience developing and executing enterprise technology strategies aligned to business objectives.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional technology organizations and deliver complex technology programs.
- Strong understanding of technology governance, architecture standards, security principles, and operational excellence.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
