Time: 8–10 hours a week (flexible) Where: A mix of in-person filming (events/workshops) and remote editing We’re looking for someone who can help us show our work in a real, compelling way. If you enjoy capturing moments, pulling together short videos that people actually want to watch, and turning raw footage into clean social content, this is for you. There’s also room to support a podcast as that grows (filming + edits + clips). URBAN TXT: Teens Exploring Technology is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization focused on inspiring young men of color to become confident leaders. We use technology as a tool to improve the lives of those living in marginalized communities. Our interdisciplinary curriculum develops leadership, entrepreneurship, design and coding skills among underrepresented teens. We value empowerment, agility, innovation, creativity and leadership. At the end of the day, our main focus is to develop young men of color into innovative, futuristic, unbound thinkers who will change the world through their passions. What you’ll do Film short content at events, workshops, and program days (b-roll, quick interviews, highlights) Turn footage into short-form videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts Add captions, on-screen text, music, and simple graphics so videos feel polished and easy to follow Create a few versions of the same content (full clip, teaser, quote moment, recap) Help keep video files organized so we’re not digging through random folders later Podcast support (optional, as needed) Help set up a simple podcast recording (camera framing, lighting, audio check) Edit podcast video/audio into a clean episode Pull the best moments into short clips for social (teasers + highlights) What a “good week” looks like 2–3 short videos ready to post (depending on what we filmed) Event recaps turned around within 2–3 days when needed If we record a podcast episode: a handful of clips we can post that week You’d be a good fit if you… Can film steady, well-lit video on a phone or camera Know your way around editing tools like CapCut, Premiere, Final Cut, or Canva Have a good feel for pacing, storytelling, and what works on social Are responsive and okay with quick feedback. Bonus points (not required) You’ve used lav mics or basic audio gear You’ve edited podcast content before You can do simple title cards / lower-thirds How to volunteer Send: 2–4 examples of videos you’ve filmed or edited (links are fine)
