The Role: We are looking for an accomplished and forward-thinking VP, Product Management to define and execute the product strategy for our large, multi-product portfolio. This leader will be accountable for translating market opportunities, customer needs, business priorities, and emerging technologies into differentiated products that deliver measurable customer and business outcomes. The successful candidate will have experience leading and scaling Product Management and Product Marketing functions, managing products across the full lifecycle, and making disciplined investment decisions across growth, modernization, consolidation, and retirement. This leader will also bring practical experience incorporating AI, machine learning, automation, and data-driven insights into products and platforms, with appropriate attention to customer value, responsible AI, privacy, security, and operational readiness. The VP will partner closely with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Operations, and other business leaders to accelerate innovation, improve product adoption, strengthen market differentiation, and drive sustainable growth in the education technology and assessment markets. The Responsibilities: Product Vision and Strategy: Define, communicate, and execute the enterprise product vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap in alignment with company objectives, customer needs, competitive opportunities, and market dynamics. Establish clear priorities and ensure disciplined execution. AI-Enabled Product and Platform Innovation: Identify, prioritize, and deliver opportunities to incorporate AI, machine learning, automation, predictive analytics, and intelligent insights into the company’s products and platforms. Ensure AI investments address meaningful customer or operational problems and produce measurable value rather than functioning as isolated technology initiatives. Responsible AI Leadership: Partner with Technology, Security, Legal, Privacy, and business stakeholders to establish appropriate product governance for AI-enabled capabilities, including transparency, human oversight, data quality, privacy, security, model performance, monitoring, accessibility, and responsible use. Portfolio and Lifecycle Management: Own and optimize a large, multi-product portfolio. Make data-informed decisions regarding investment, modernization, integration, consolidation, commercialization, and retirement of products, including legacy platforms. Customer and Market Insight: Establish a consistent approach to customer discovery, user research, market analysis, competitive intelligence, and product validation. Translate insights into differentiated product strategies, experiences, and investment priorities. Product Management Excellence: Build a high-performing product operating model across discovery, business-case development, prioritization, requirements definition, experience design, agile delivery, launch readiness, adoption, and lifecycle management. Business and Product Outcomes: Define and manage product-level objectives, key results, and performance indicators. Measure success through customer value, adoption, retention, revenue growth, profitability, quality, reliability, and other agreed business outcomes. Product Marketing and Commercialization: Lead Product Marketing and oversee positioning, messaging, packaging, pricing, launch strategy, competitive differentiation, sales enablement, and adoption programs. Ensure a clear connection between product strategy, go-to-market execution, and revenue outcomes. Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner closely with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Operations, Finance, Security, and other stakeholders to align priorities, resolve tradeoffs, manage dependencies, and deliver successful product and customer outcomes. Financial and Investment Leadership: Bring strong business and financial discipline to product decisions. Develop credible business cases, evaluate investment returns, and contribute to revenue, profitability, retention, and market-share objectives. Organizational Leadership: Attract, develop, and retain high-performing Product Management and Product Marketing talent. Establish clear accountability, decision rights, career paths, and succession plans while building a collaborative, customer-focused culture. Executive and External Leadership: Communicate product strategy, investment priorities, performance, risks, and tradeoffs to executive leadership and other stakeholders. Represent the company as a credible product and industry leader with customers, partners, and at relevant market events. The Desired Attributes: Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, Engineering, Product Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred. 12+ years of progressive product leadership experience, including senior leadership responsibility for a complex B2B SaaS, technology, education, assessment, or digital-platform portfolio. Demonstrated success defining and executing product strategy across a large, complex, or multi-product portfolio with significant revenue and customer impact. Proven experience leading and scaling Product Management teams. Experience leading Product Marketing directly or establishing a highly effective operating partnership with Product Marketing is strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience incorporating AI, machine learning, automation, advanced analytics, or AI-generated insights into commercial products or enterprise platforms. Ability to evaluate AI use cases based on customer value, strategic differentiation, feasibility, data readiness, implementation risk, economics, adoption, and measurable business impact. Working knowledge of responsible AI principles and the product implications of data privacy, security, transparency, human oversight, model performance, monitoring, accessibility, and regulatory requirements. Experience taking AI-enabled or data-driven capabilities from discovery and validation through launch, adoption, measurement, monitoring, and continuous improvement. Deep expertise across the full product lifecycle, including discovery, validation, development, commercialization, growth, modernization, integration, and end-of-life management. Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience with business cases, product economics, pricing, packaging, investment prioritization, and portfolio tradeoffs. Demonstrated ability to establish product performance metrics and use customer, market, operational, financial, and usage data to guide decisions. Strong understanding of B2B SaaS, platform products, APIs, integrations, data products, and enterprise customer requirements. Knowledge of education technology, assessment, credentialing, testing, or related markets is highly preferred. Experience balancing innovation and modernization with the commercial and operational needs of established or legacy products. Exceptional strategic thinking, communication, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities. Demonstrated ability to make difficult product and investment decisions, communicate tradeoffs clearly, and maintain alignment across executive and cross-functional stakeholders. Strong record of collaboration with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Operations, Security, Legal, Privacy, and Finance. Experience leading globally distributed teams across time zones and cultures. Demonstrated success attracting, developing, coaching, and retaining senior product talent. Strong customer orientation with a record of translating customer problems into differentiated products and measurable outcomes.
